About The Teacher
Mrs. Lyjak has been teaching at East Side Elementary since 1999. She has been teaching students in the gifted program since 2002. Before that she taught fifth grade. Teaching students is her passion and she looks forward to going to school every day!

Mission
East Side Elementary Mission Statement: By addressing the needs of all students, the East Side Community is committed to empowering our children to excel academically and become respectful, productive members of a global society. The Advanced Learning Programs Mission Statement: To meet the very specific needs of gifted students and to extend competencies in the areas of cognitive skills, communication skills and metacognitive skills beyond the experience of the regular classroom. This is accomplished by developing skills for independent learning; providing opportunities for creative/productive learning; developing the use of higher level thinking skills; developing extensive and advanced skills in the area of research; and broadening the base of academic knowledge.
