What is Encore?

Encore is an after school choral group that is open to all 4th and 5th 
graders at East Side Elementary School. We perform secular and non-secular 
selections representing diverse periods, styles, and cultures. Encore is led 
by Mr. Richard Matthews and Miss Chrissie Gilroy. We are thrilled to have 
Ms. Mandi Chambers helping us this year as well!!!

What are the requirements for Encore?

1. Your child must have a strong desire to sing. We welcome all students who 
want to be in Encore who have a positive attitude in all rehearsals and 
performances.

2.  Rehearsals are on scheduled Monday afternoons in the music room from 
2:20-3:30 p.m.  No more than two absences are allowed for the year. If your 
child has to miss a rehearsal, s/he must bring a note from home explaining 
the absence. If your child has more than two unexcused absences, s/he will 
be excused from Encore for the rest of the year, as it is extremely 
important to be in rehearsals to learn the music.

3. Rehearsals are over at 3:30 pm. Your child must be picked up no later 
than 3:45. Members not picked up by 3:45 will be placed in the After School 
Program. Therefore, all members must be registered for the After School 
Program. 
(Please note: non-registered students will be registered at the ASP desk 
upon arrival. The cost is $17.00 the first day and $7.00 per day thereafter).

4. We need members to attend ALL scheduled performances. Performance will 
include our holiday and spring programs, visits to Sunrise Assisted Living, 
Fair Oaks Elementary, and District Festival in February. Other performances 
and all dates are TBA.

5.Members must provide funds for any performance or field trips.

What is the behavior plan for Encore?

We plan on having a lot of fun in Encore, BUT we also plan on growing as 
musicians as well. In order to learn our music, we have to have excellent 
behavior from the members. 
�	First offense:  	Student will receive a warning.
�	Second offense:	If the behavior continues, the student will receive 
a paper notice that will go home and require a signature from a parent and 
need to be returned. 
�	Third offense:	(after a warning and paper notice) will result in 
being excused from Encore for the rest of the year.
All students are expected to follow the rules and procedures of East Side 
Elementary School while in Encore rehearsals and during Encore performances.

What is your uniform?

This year the uniform requirements are a little stricter, BUT we are going 
to look great! 
�	New white button down shirt (we are ordering new white button down 
shirts with our new embroidered logo---will not be more than $18.00)
�	Nice LONG black pants (no skirts, shorts, capri pants, or gauchos)
�	Black knee highs (girls) or black socks (boys)
�	Nice Black shoes
�	No jewelry

**Girls will wear their hair back off their face tied with a blue ribbon 
(will be provided).

PLEASE NOTE: Students who are not dressed appropriately for the performances 
WILL NOT perform this year.
