Please check your child's planner for the dates when their required reading books are due. At least 2 books will be required every two weeks. They may choose any chapter book within their reading level. At the completion of every two books, please initial your child's reading log. Thanks.
Hurray!!!!! Grades are now online, and your child will be bring home his/her SECRET/ PRIVATE # in the Monday folder. Please record this number in a secure location. Grades will be updated approximately every 2 weeks.
Our new marking period has begun, and the children should start doing a lot better now that they know how to "handle" the work load in 4th grade! In Math, we will be working on long division, measuring angles, geometry, and 2D figures. PLEASE continue to work on the multiplication facts so that division is easier for your child.
`
In Social Studies, we will be studying some explorers and go on to colonization.
In Science, we will be studying simple machines, force and motion, light, and sound.
We're going to make this a great marking period-- Many children are feeling so good about the results of their hard work. I will continue to encourage, (hopefully) motivate, and assist any and every child in need. They constantly remind me to wear shirts/sweaters with "sleeves" so that I can pull out new tricks and easier ways to do things. That won't be a problem with colder weather coming!
We are currently working on a Fire Safety unit that is being taught by firefighters. This will be a part of the Health grade for the 2nd nine weeks. We also had a FABULOUS field trip to the Safety Village. As a class, we are trying to donate a basket of goodies for the firefighters for the holiday season. Some of you have already sent in a treat for them to share. Thank you so much for this. If anyone else would like to send something in, please do so right after the Thanksgiving break. We have discussed as a class, the kinds of things to send in. I will purchase a big basket to put it all into and I will deliver it to the fire station on Lower Roswell Road. Thanks so very much.
