Hi! My name is Lyssa Turner Sahadevan. I am starting my ninth year of teaching. I have taught
both kindergarten and first grade. I married my husband and best friend, Nithin, in February of
2005. We moved to the Marietta area in 2006 and are thrilled to be calling East Cobb home. We
are the proud parents of the most beautiful baby boy, Druv Turner Sahadevan. We welcomed
him into our family in January of this year. What a gift parenthood is!
I am from Mobile, Alabama. Mobile is known for beautiful beaches, being home to the USS
Alabama and Hammerin' Hank Aaron. Mobile is also known for....hurricanes! I have two sisters,
1 brother, 1 gorgeous niece, and my parents all in Mobile.
I graduated from the University of South Alabama with my Bachelor's in Elementary Education.
My love of reading and teaching reading lead me back to school! In December of 2004, I earned
my Master's of Education as a Reading Specialist. Nothing is more exciting than playing a role
in helping a child develop not only reading skills, but a love of reading!
My personal teaching philosophy (in a nutshell) is "Learning is messy. Learning is noisy. Learning
is fun!" I am thrilled to be an East Side Tiger and look forward to another fantastic school year!
