Happy New Year!!
It was so great seeing the kids this morning as they arrived through the doors all bundled up with rosy cheeks and noses! Today was an extra special day because we welcomed our new student teacher, Ms. Calhoun. She’ll be with us through March 12th after which she’ll be ready to graduate from Kennesaw State University. So if you get a chance to meet her and say hello, please do! You’ll see why I feel so lucky to have her with us for the next 10 weeks!
A few things to note:
• The spelling bee is being held this Thursday at 8:00 a.m. and we’re proud to have two students, Iris and Livi, participating!
• Parent conferences are scheduled for the week of Jan. 25th – 29th. I will send a letter home on Monday with a time for your conference. Report cards will be distributed at that time, although grades for second quarter are current for the most part on the online system. Some grades may change between now and this weekend as I finish up. I will send out another newsflash as soon as I update them for good, and those grades will remain up for a week or two at which time, we’ll start putting in third quarter grades.
• East Side Elementary invites all parents to the Technology Resources Night, Thursday January 14th from 6-7 pm. Come and see all the different technology resources that are available to you and your students. Thank you to the Foundation for their generous support of technology in our school. Remember that is Thursday January 14th from 6-7 pm. Look for more information on East Side’s web page and teachers’ News Flash.
• Earn Six Flags tickets by documenting reading time for six hours between now and February 19th! See the homework page to download the PDF file for the reading log!
