Counseling

I am a counselor working with students who want to improve their lives.  I offer a safe and supportive environment in which students can tell me anything at all about themselves.  I will listen to what they have to say and help them find solutions to problems they are encountering.  Students' safety and privacy are of the utmost importance to me and I will do all I can to honor their trust in me.

Focus
I am Solution-Oriented in my counseling, which means I help students/parents find ways to make wanted changes such as breaking free of old patterns, and focusing on new ways of doing things today.  It's a simple approach - if what you are doing is not working, try something different.

Confidentiality

Students and parents have the right to expect that any information revealed in the therapy setting will remain private.  I will not disclose anything they say without their permission. The only exceptions to this promise are the following:

  • When I am required by law to disclose certain information
  • If  students or parents say something that makes me believe they are a danger to themselves or others
  • When students or parents give me written permission to disclose information to someone else (HRS Chapter 451J-12, 2003.)
