SUMMER SCHOOL INFORMATION

APPLICATION WITH PAYMENT IN ORDER TO REGISTER FOR 
SUMMER SCHOOL**

SUMMER SCHOOL DATES:  JUNE 16 - JULY 18, 2008
SUMMER SCHOOL TIMES:  8:00 A.M. - 1:30 P.M.
TUITION: YEAR COURSE = $160.00 OR SEMESTER COURSE = $80.00 PER SEMESTER.

Registration is complete when all of the following requested information and payment are 
received.  Student class lists for Summer School will be posted by Friday, June 13, outside of 
the summer school office (A-103).  You will be notified by phone, the week of June 9-13, if any 
of the courses have been cancelled or closed.

Registration will be held from April 1-May 30, on a first come first serve basis.

Due to the Department of Education's budget constraints, D.O.E. tuition waivers and 
transportation will NOT be available.  Students are responsible for finding transportation to 
and from school.

Students may however, apply for financial assistance with Alu Like (for Native Hawaiian, 
American Indian or Alaska native youths.)  For more information call Alu Like at 245-8545.

Please review and complete both the summer school application and the summer school "rules and 
regulations."  BOTH FORMS MUST BE SUBMITTED, ALONG WITH PAYMENT, IN ORDER FOR YOUR APPLICATION 
TO BE PROCESSED.

COURSE OFFERINGS:
The following courses are being offered, SUBJECT TO INSTRUCTOR AVAILABILITY AND SUFFICIENT 
ENROLLMENT.  Please indicate your first choice and your alternate choice below.  Priority will 
be given to Kauai High School students.  Courses will be filled on a first come, first serve 
basis.  Students may enroll in a year course (1 credit), two semester courses (1 total credit) 
or one semester course (1/2 credit).

RULES AND REGULATIONS -
ATTENDANCE POLICY:
Attending class regularly will help to ensure success in summer school.  Therefore, students are 
required to attend class regularly and to be on time.  All absences will be considered UNEXCUSED 
ABSENCES.  The only exceptison are:  A DOCTOR'S MEDICAL NOTE FOR ILLNESS AND DEATH IN THE 
IMMEDIATE FAMILY (UP TO 3 DAYS).

1.  ABSENCES:
a.  Students will be allowed one (1) unexcused absences per semester course and two (2) 
unexcused absences per year course.

2.  TARDIES:
a.  Two (2) tardies will equal one (1) unexcused absence.  Tardiness to class in the morning and 
after break will not be tolerated.  AFTER 8:30 A.M., A STUDENT WILL BE CONSIDERED ABSENT 
REEGARDLESS IF HE/SHE IS IN SCHOOL.

***ANY STUDENT EXCEEDING THE ALLOWABLE NUMBER OF ABSENCES WILL BE DISMISSED FROM SUMMER SCHOOL 
IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT REFUND.

BEHAVIORAL POLICY:
Students attending summer school must be at their best behavior to gain the education needed for 
acceleration or remediation.  All Chapter 19 rules will be in effect.

1.  Class A & B Offenses:  (Swearing at an adult, fighting, gambling, drugs, theft, etc.)  * 
Students involved in any Class A or B offense will immediately be dismissed from summer school 
WITHOUT REFUND.

2.  Class C Offense:  (Smoking, leaving campus without permission, cutting class, etc.)  
* Students involved in a Class C offense will be suspended from summer school for one (1) day, 
which will be considered an unexcused absence.  A second offense will result in teh dismissal 
from summer school WITHOUT REFUND.

3.  Class D Offense:  (Contraband, disrepsect, inappropriate displays of affection, etc.)  
*Students involved in a Class D offense will be placed on detention (during break or after 
school) for the first (1st) offense, suspended for one (1) day for the second (2nd) offense and 
dismissed from summer school on the third (3rd) offense WITHOUT REFUND.
