1. Read pages 4 to 16 (Chapter 1) When reading your computer screen, read the
pages in the little gray box. To the right of the little gray box will be
other numbers that you can ignore. In class, I made the mistake of stating
that you should read pages 69 to 82, but those are the WRONG page numbers. Do
not read those pages. Read pages 4 to 16 only.

2. Identifying People and Ideas (numbers 1 to 10)
Understanding Main Ideas (Sections 1 and 2, questions 1 to 8)

3. Make sure to type out all assignments (including this one), type out
questions if there is any, and answer each question using complete sentences.

1. Current Events Homework (Here are some reminders below)

a. Find an article that you believe is about a significant EVENT in history
and persuade me to believe you by using the "cheeseburger" format I've
provided for you. Remember, I need a thesis statement, three supporting
details
(usually a sentence per detail), use transition words like first,
secondly..etc, and a conclusion (usually in one sentence). If you need a more
detailed explanation, read the syllabus section entitled homework. Also,
remember to copy the article to the word document you used to write the
paragraph so that everyone has a visual to see when you are making your
presentations.

Here is a brief outline of what you must print out and turn in for your
homework each time a Research and Report or Current Events Homework
assignment
is given. These can be found in the "Handout" section of my website.

a. Cheeseburger Outline
b. Presentation Rubric
c. R & R/Current Events Rubric
d. Presentation Rubric

2. Complete your homework from the previous day if you did not turn it in.
You
will be given a 10% grade penalty for that assignment if turned in on Monday.
Each day I will add an additional ten 10% penalty. Don't let this happen to
you.
