In groups of three, students will create a restaurant based on the research
they did on the particular culture assigned to them. Your must choose one

1. The first part of the project will consist of a tri-fold brochure with
these components:
a. Name of the restaurant including a design/picture and motto (page 3)
b. Various entrees/appetizers/desserts to choose from with prices for

c. Food/cultural history section (on page 5 addresses the essential
question of the course “Have we really changed?” and must include
parenthetical citations)
d. Entertainment section that includes the title and author of three
poems written by each group member that will be recited on Friday and
Saturday nights in your restaurant (page 6)

f. Pictures representing the architectural aspects of the culture you
are doing research on (page 2)
2. The second part of the project will include the creation of dish
being served on the menu. Forty small samples must be made for all students
to share in partaking.
3. The final part of the project is the presentation. During the
presentation, each group must provide16 colored copies of their menus, to be
passed out to each group shortly before your presentation. Each student must
also recite by memory the original poem he or she wrote (titles of those
poems are located on the menu). Mrs. Lee and Mr. Medeiros will act as
investors who are looking to start a restaurant. The remaining students will
act as the “focus group” while presentations are being made. The goal of
each group is to prove that their restaurant would be the best one to invest
in.
4. This project is due on November 8, 2007. At that time your 6 to 8
minute presentations from each group will begin.

1. The learner will create a brochure with information about one of the
world’s major religions and attempt to persuade others to share his or her
beliefs. The brochure (3 copies) should include visuals and descriptions of:

2. The learner will take part in a Socratic seminar that is lead by students

patterns in writing. One of those questions will be the essential question
of the course: Have we really changed?
4. Students will work in pairs to complete this project, which is due on
October 24th, when presentations of the brochures take place. On October
25th, the Socratic seminar will be held and study session too. On October
