Quiz 1 is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 11, 2009. The following is a list of
items that will be on the quiz:
1. Multiple Choice (MC) question regarding:
- writing chemical formulas
- naming ionic and molecular compounds
- calculating molar mass based on chemical formulas and/or organic
structures
- balancing chemical equations
2. Short answer and/or show calculations or MC:
- Use and show dimensional analysis calculation for:
* unit conversions
(ex: feet --> cm)
* mole conversions
(ex: mole --> grams or vice versa)
(ex: grams --> number of atoms or molecules)
* stoichiometric
- Define or used in "fill-in-the-blank" questions:
* homogeneous mixture and/or solution
* solute
* solvent
* aqueous
* miscible or immiscible
* soluble or insoluble
* solubility
- Determine if substances is miscible/soluble in each other when
provided with 3-D images of molecules and relative electronegativity
of the atoms within the molecules.
