PAST ASSIGNMENTS:

11/24 - TEWWG Ch. 4 and RL/SG. Read handout: "Plot and Structure"
and "Setting". Read Chopin's "The Storm" (see Handouts). Answer the questions
and do one RL on the short story.

11/23 - TEWWG Ch. 3 RL/SG. Lit Glossary entries for the last remaining
literary criticisms covered in class today. Do your best to write up the
Function of the critical lens. Remember, it's how the theory works in the
given text. EX: Joy Luck Club and Feminism; Huck Finn and Historicism; The
Crucible and Marxism. If you are still struggling, at least define the theory
and we can discuss these tomorrow. Do, however, read handout: "Fiction: An
Overview."

11/20 - Create Lit glossary entries for the THREE critical lenses discussed
in class. We will get the other 3 on Monday. See Handouts for the title and
theories you will (ultimately) be responsible for. Refer to the iterary
Glossary assignment prompt for requirements. I know this is difficult - do
your best and we will go over them together on Monday.

Also, start reading "Their Eyes Were Watching God" (TEWWG) Ch. 1-2
with a reading log (RL)on the section (see Handouts). Only one log for the 2
chapters. These logs will help you to start organizing ideas/thoughts/
reflections, etc. for the Study Guide (SG).

11/18 - Work on study guide assignment. Read handout on Literary Analysis.

11/17 - 1. Get syllabus signed.
        2. Write essay: "It's all about me"(background info, likes/dislikes,
etc)? What do you consider your strengths? What would you like to
improve about yourself? What is your American Dream (goals for the
year, in 5 yrs/10 yrs/20 yrs, lifetime etc)? 2 pages.
        3. Look for notes/books on selected text for Study Guide.
