Mrs. Mikels earned her AA degree from Waldorf College in Forest City,
IA, her BA degree from the University of Northern Iowa, and her MA
degree from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State
University). She has been teaching for 25 years and is a National Board
Certified teacher. She and her husband,Russ, have three boys. Gage, 20,
is pursuing a degree in music from McNally Smith College of Music in St.
Paul, MN. Blaise, 18, is a freshman at Simpson College in Indianola, IA,
majoring in math. Park, 13, is an 8th grader involved in sports and music.
All students can succeed. This is accomplished by doing. Students
become more proficient readers by reading and more proficient writers
by writing. They manipulate math materials and actively participate in
science. Music is often used as an educational tool. Much is learned
and remembered through rhythm and music, and it's fun!
