Anyone should feel free to write on there any time this summer to keep us all updated on what you're doing!!!What a beautiful official first day of vacation!!!!Enjoy!Mrs. Polsonkpolson@harlan.k12.ia.us Friday, May 18, 2012Wow!!!! I can't believe the school year is over!!!I had a great group of kids this year! We had our ups and downs - as we do every year - but I'm proud of the kids and the progress they made this year! I think some of them were surprised today too!!!Thanks for entrusting your children to me each weekday this year AND for supporting us in everything we did!!! I can't begin to tell you how much that helps here at school!!!I'm giving you fair warning - your emails stay in my computer until the fall!!!! Please check out the photos/docs link today!! We had so many kids earn awards for this year!! It was fun to recognize their achievements!!!!The last picture is of 2 sisters and the cake they brought for me today! I had both girls when they were in 4th grade and they STILL spoil me!!!!Thanks again for a fantastic year!!!!!!Mrs. Polsonkpolson@harlan.k12.ia.us Wednesday, May 16, 2012Yep, it's me again!!! Busy week with activities!!We had our last time with our Book Buddies today, so we stayed a little longer and had some fun. First we signed their memory books and helped them get autographs from their classmates. Then we had a treat from Miss Sue!! Then we had some fun time playing outside!!! Check out the photos/docs link to see us having fun!!!I still have 3 students who need to read at home for Read to Succeed!! Please check with your child to see if he/she if one of them! Two more days to go!!! Mrs. Polsonkpolson@harlan.k12.ia.us Tuesday, May 15, 2012Good evening!!My daughter's graduation weekend was fantastic!!!! We couldn't have asked for better weather or nicer people!! I was able to share some pictures with the kids today!Mrs. Moore did a super job of taking pictures for us on Friday!! So, I posted a bunch more from the track meet and the afternoon at the park!Since it was so nice today, we headed back to Mom's for a little fun! Mackie didn't really want to play because Mom tuckered him out before we got there! Oh well! We had fun in the front yard instead! There are pictures of this on the link now too.THEN my daughter really likes owls, so we made owl cake pops for her reception. We wanted to be sure we had plenty - so we had some left over! The kids got to have a little owl treat after they played! Check out those pix!!We started cleaning things out today - sorry! I'll bet some of your laundry baskets are full of stuff from their lockers!!!!I can just hardly believe that we only have 3 days left of 4th grade!!! We'll be very busy though!!Just a reminder - if you still have that purple parent survey sheet at home and you'd like to complete it, I would really appreciate the feedback! Thanks,Mrs. Polsonkpolson@harlan.k12.ia.us Friday, May 11, 2012I'm so glad the kids had such a wonderful day for the track meet and their afternoon at the park!!! I came to Harlan early and worked really hard with my mom and sister, so I could take a "break" during the track meet. When I got there all the field events were over as were many of the races, but the kids told me how they did! They did GREAT! I was able to get a few pictures while I was there! So, check the photo/docs link!!!The windows here at Mom's are open, so I can hear the kids playing at the park! Sounds like they are having fun there too!!!Have a great weekend!Mrs. Polsonkpolson@harlan.k12.ia.us Thursday, May 10, 2012What a beautiful day!!!Get ready - this could be a long one!!!The forecast looks great for tomorrow! I hope some of you will be able to get to the track tomorrow morning! Here are some things to remember: 1. Each child needs to bring a sack lunch with a drink - no glass please. 2. If your child would like to bring a bottle of water to the track, that would be okay. Please just water for this though. (In their lunch it can be your choice or theirs. ) 3. You may want to put sunscreen on your child in the morning - we'll be outside all day. 4. For the afternoon, we are at the Dream Playground. Usually we get some games going. So, if your child would like to play softball, please bring a mitt/glove and a bat if you have one. 5. 4 kids volunteered to bring a laundry basket - hoping at least one remembers. We'll put the afternoon playing equipment in it. 6. Please do NOT let your child bring electronics to the track and/or park. 7. We will ride a bus to the track in the morning. Then we'll be walking to the park and eventually back to school. All the kids are supposed to walk back with us and dismiss as usual. If you think of something else, please let me know and I'll add it to the list! Here are some other reminders: 1. All school library books are due tomorrow, May 11, 2012. However, we will still have some silent reading time. So the kids could either bring books from home or read from our classroom library. I cut the AR goal in half this month - just 2 points this time. But some of the kids still need to read for this. 2. I have 3 students who have not turned in any minutes for Read to Succeed. In order for him/her to go to the movie next week, I MUST have minutes read at home. 3. Sometime during the summer I will "clean up" my website. That means I'll be deleting pictures. So, if there are any you want to print and keep, you may want to do that soon. 4. We will be cleaning up and out next week. It might be helpful if you could send an extra sack or two for locker and desk items. One more thing - I'll tell the kids later too - I will be gone tomorrow and Monday. I hate missing the track meet, but my daughter Kayla is graduating from high school on Sunday. I need some time at home to get ready and then a day to recover!!!So, in case I get too busy later:HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!-Have a great weekend!!!Mrs. Polsonkpolson@harlan.k12.ia.us Tuesday, May 8, 2012Hi!I'm just letting you know that I added some pictures to the photos/docs link today. Yesterday, one of Mrs. Mathis's students brought some "guests" to school because she had been researching them. So, we had her come share with us too! Thanks, Jackie!!Then in science we have been studying magnets, so we were having magnet races. The kids were trying to see which magnet or combination of magnets allowed them the most control and pull. So, I believe I got pictures of all 8 groups!Don't forget - if you want to order a book to be signed by Coach Sloth, those are due tomorrow! And the green out shirt forms are due on Friday.Keep hoping for good weather for our track meet on Friday!!!Thanks,Mrs. Polsonkpolson@harlan.k12.ia.us Saturday, May 5, 2012Happy Cinqo de Mayo!!This is just a quick reminder for the kids (and you if you are interested!)!! If you are up later tonight, the moon is supposed to bigger and brighter than usual because it's as close to the earth in it's orbit as it can be! This won't happen again until 2016!Happy Moon Viewing!Mrs. Polsonkpolson@harlan.k12.ia.us Friday, May 4, 2012Happy Star Wars Day!!! And "May the Fourth" be with you!!!! I just wanted to let you know a couple of things! 1. I got the map tests checked and back to the kids today!! So many of them did SO WELL!!! I'm a very proud person!!! Please look it over, sign it, and send it back next week. (There are still a few kids who need to keep studying though - capitals retake is Monday and map retake is Tuesday.) 2. I sent a purple sheet home with the kids today. It's a parent survey sheet about your child's experience this year in 4th grade. Please just be honest! I really do try to listen and make changes to help myself improve! If you don't have time, that's okay. But I would happily take it back any time from now until the end of the year! Thanks,Mrs. Polsonkpolson@harlan.k12.ia.us
