| As the Editorial Director, you have several responsibilities to fulfill.
The first is to design the cover of your news magazine. As the editor, you
will also be in charge of your magazine's opinion (editorial) comments that
get submitted to your publication. Third, you will work with your team to
make sure they have their materials and work with your team to set the order
in which your articles will get placed into your magazine. The first and
the third require input and help from your team...but not a lot. The second
responsibility requires you to do a little work to figure out what people's
view points were like concerning slavery in the months leading up to the
Civil War and present those ideas through editorials written to your magazine.
1. Design cover once your team and you decide on a title.
2. Research people's view points and then write three editorials expressing
those view points (Pro-Slavery, Anti-Slavery, Your View Point) over
whether or not slavery should be allowed to continue in the south.
*Present one editorial from a person living in the south before the war.
*Present one editorial from a person living in the north before the war.
*Present one editorial from the editor of the magazine, this would be
your view point on slavery as either a person from the north,
the south, or remain neutral in your opinion.
3. Decide, along with your team, the order that your articles and the rest
of the articles will go in your team's magazine.
You may want to consider using these websites to search for biographies or
stories that relate to the viewpoints listed above. (Abolitionist and Pro-
slavery) You can figure that out by reading through any of chapter 16 in
your social studies textbook. If you have any further questions, please ask
the teacher.
Feel free to use any of the other role pages to find additional resources. | |
