Middle schoolers at
Genesis Prep participate in a rigorous academic program that prepares them
well for high school. In addition to the following students' supply list
items, they will need online computer access, word processing software
(Microsoft Word preferred), and printing capability available after school
daily. (Students may use the school computer lab for this purpose by
arrangement with their Tech or core teachers.) Laptops are optional, but quite
useful in class for Geography research and Writing Skills activities.
Each student should
bring the following supplies to school on our first day:
-
A 3-inch view
binder (any color) divided into 8 sections that are separated by pocketed
dividers. Label the first seven sections WRITING SKILLS, LITERATURE, MATH,
GEOGRAPHY, SCIENCE, WORD STUDIES, and ELECTIVE. The remaining section will be
labeled when you get your schedule. You may use 2-3 binders to separate
subjects, if you prefer. Place plenty of binder paper in each section (either
college-ruled or regular)
-
2 marbled composition
notebooks with the student's name and DEVOTIONAL written on the front
-
A paperback Webster's
(or equivalent) dictionary and thesaurus with the student's name on them
(These will be stored at school for the entire year.)
-
A pencil pouch with
several sharpened pencils, a non-plastic ruler, a compass, and a protractor
-
A laminated binder-size
world map (available at office supply stores)
-
A small collection of
markers and color pencils
-
A personal reader to be
used also for assigned at-home 20 minute reading. This is any parent-approved
book.
-
A Bible that can be
stored at school for both Devotional and Bible activities
-
3 highlighters
-
1 pack of post-it notes
-
100 lined 3 x 5 index
cards (to be stored at school)
-
white board markers for personal use, any color
Additional resources may
be requested as students settle in to their first semester classes. Feel free
to email me at rhartman@genesisprep.org
if you have additional supply list questions.
Added August 20, 2009:
-
7th graders will need to obtain a library card from the
local library system for research purposes.
