12/16 Today in World History we went over the rise of feudal monarchies in medieval England and France. Reminder: Medieval Manor poster due tomorrow. 12/15 Today in World History we read 207-210 which I had inadvertently skipped. We completed the items for section II and III on WB pg. 67. Students should make sure they have read the section from 210-218 which I had assigned for last night. 12/14 Today in World History we began to go over Ch. 9 Princes and Popes. We talked about "Reforms of the Church." We also completed items 1-5 on WB pg. 67 (Ch. 9 timeline). For tomorrow students need to read 210-218. Reminder: The Medieval Manor poster is due on Thursday. 12/10 Today in World History students completed their History of Christmas projects. Reminder: The History of Christmas program is Sunday evening at 6:00. Students should bring their 3-D portion of the project on Sunday night if they have not already brought it. For Monday students need to read pg. 201-206 in the textbook. The Medieval Manor poster is due on Thursday (12/17). 12/9 Today in World History we had a review day for Chapter 8. Students had some time to work on their History of Chrismtas projects. Reminder: The projects are due tomorrow. If the students are making an edible item for their 3-D portion of the project, they should bring it to the program on Sunday evening rather than to class tomorrow. 12/8 Today in World History students had time to work on their History of Christmas Project. Reminder: The project is due on Thursday and the History of Christmas Program is Sunday evening (December 13) at 6:00. 12/7 Today in World History we talked about the Medieval Manor. The Ch. 8 map (WB 65-66) was due today. Tomorrow students will have time to work on their Christmas projects. They need to bring in their materials to do so. If they do not bring in their materials, they will be given work to do. Reminder: The History of Christmas Project is due this Thursday. 12/3 Today in World History we talked about the Feudal System. We completed the items on WB pg. 65 (Ch. 8 map) The completed map (WB 65-66) is due on Monday. Reminder: The History of Christmas Projects are due on Thursday. Students have Tuesday to work on them so they should make sure they bring in materials by Tuesday to do so. If they do not have the materials to work on their projects, I will have an assignment for them to do that day. Students also received a handout about a very small project to diagram a Medieval Manor. It will be due on December 17. There are links on my teacherweb page to help them finish the project. 12/2 Today in World History we talked about the Empire of Charlemagne. We also completed the rest of the items for the timeline on WB pg. 63. For tomorrow students should read 189-195 and finish the timeline. 12/1 Today in World History we began discussing the Middle Ages. We are currently looking over the "Making of the Medieval Europe." Today we looked at the "Growth of the Medieval Church." We also completed items 1-4 on WB pg. 63. For tomorrow students should read pg 185-191. Reminder: Continue to work on your History of Christmas projects. 11/30 Today in World History we finished going over some general information about Christmas celebrations in medieval times. Students had some time for planning and working on their projects. There will be a day of class (December 8) set aside for working on their projects. They should make sure they bring their materials to class on that day. For tomorrow students should read pg 179-185. 11/19 Today in World History students turned in their Ch. 7 map of Africa and the Chapter 7 Timeline. We also played a review game on Ch. 7. We also went over a little information about Christmas celebrations in medieval times. 11/18 Today in World History we went over African civilizations. We completed WB pg. 55 and students should do WB pg.56 to turn in tomorrow. We also completed WB pg. 61 and students should complete pg. 62 to turn in tomorrow. Students also turned in the map of Asia (WB 59-60). I also showed the students the size of display board I would like them to use for the History of Christmas project. It is about 28 inches tall by 20 inches wide (when the two sides are folded in). 11/17 Today in World History we looked at the Mongol Empire which invaded China, Europe and India. We also completed items 12-15 on WB pg. 55. We also began working on the map on pg. 59-60. The map is due tomorrow. Also for tomorrow students should read the section on Africa (pg 169-174). 11/16 Today in World History we looked at the history of Japan and completed item #11 on WB pg. 55. We also completed WB pg. 57 in class. Students also received the instructions for the History of Christmas project which is due on December 10. They should use a display board about 28 inches high by 20 inches wide (when closed up). 11/12 Today in World History we looked at the history of China. We also completed the items on the timeline page relating to the history of China. For Monday, students need to read the next section on Japan (pg. 161-165). They should also bring in information that they have found in researching for the History of Christmas project. On Monday they will receive information on what their projects should look like. 11/11 Today in World History we began looking at the civilizations of Asia and Africa. Today we covered India. We completed items 1-3 on WB pg. 55 For tomorrow students need to read pg. 153-161. 11/10 Today in World History we played a review game for Chapter 6. We will begin on Chapter 7 tomorrow. Students should read pg. 146-152. 11/9 Today in World History we talked about the spread of Islam. We also finished filling in the items for WB pg. 45 (timeline); students need to complete WB pg. 46 and turn it in tomorrow. We also completed WB pg. 53 (map); students need to complete WB pg. 54 and turn it in tomorrow as well. 11/5 Today in World History we learned about the beginnings of the Islamic religion. We also went over some ideas and terms students could look for in their research for the History of Christmas projects. For Monday, students need to read 140-144. 11/4 Today in World History we learned about Early Russian history. We also completed the first 10 items on WB pg. 45. Students also were given some web links that may be helpful in their research for the History of Christmas projects. They are also posted under "Links" on this site. For tomorrow students need to read 136-140. 11/3 Today in World History we began looking at the Byzantine Empire. Students took outline notes of the first section of Chapter 6. For tomorrow students should read the next section (134-136). We also finalized the topics for our History of Christmas projects for the program on December 13. We are looking at how Christmas was celebrated and Christmas traditions during the Middle Ages (please do not go beyond that time period). These students/groups have the following assigned countries. We also began discussing what our class would do for our History of Christmas evening on December 13. For tomorrow students need to read pg. 127-133 in the textbook. 10/29 Today in World History we played a review game for Chapter 5. Reminder: The Full Armor of God project is due on Monday (11/2). 10/28 Today in World History students turned in their Ch. 5 map and timeline. We also completed WB pg. 43-44 in class together. Tomorrow we will do a review game for Chapter 5. Reminder: The Full Armor of God projects are due on Monday (11/2). 10/27 Today in World History we went over the Fall of the Roman Empire. We completed the final items of the timeline (pg. 37) and students should finish putting the events on the timeline page (pg. 38). We also began working on the map (pg. 41). Students need to locate the items in the blue box on page 41 on the map on page 42. The timeline (pg. 37-38) and the map (pg. 41-42) are due tomorrow (10/28). 10/26 Today in World History we watched a video on excavations at Herculaneum which was destroyed with Pompeii by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79AD. For tomorrow students should have read (118-122). Reminder - the Full Armor of God project is due on Monday 11/2. Everyone has received the instructions and a piece of poster board on which to complete the project. 10/22 Today in World History we went over the Introduction of Christianity into the Roman Empire. For Monday students need to read the last section of the chapter (pgs. 118-122). Reminder: The Full Armor of God project is due on Monday, November 2. The students have received their poster board and instructions. Instructions are also posted on this site under "World History Homework." 10/21 Today in World History we went over Roman Culture and Achievement. We also completed items 2-11 on WB pg. 37 (ch. 5 timeline). For tomorrow students need to read pgs. 109-118. 10/20 Today in World History we began looking at Chapter 5 on the Roman Empire. We went over the Pax Romana. We also completed the first item on the Ch. 5 timeline on page 37 of the workbook. For tomorrow students need to read pg. 100-109. Students also received instructions for a project on the "Full Armor of God." The project is due on Monday, November 2. 10/19 Today in World History students turned in their Ch. 4 timeline (WB pg. 27-28) and map (WB pg. 33-34). We also played a review game for Ch. 4. For tomorrow students need to begin reading Ch. 5 (pgs. 97-99). 10/15 Today in World History we finished discussing the Roman Republic with the decline of the republic and the beginning of the Empire. We completed WB pgs. 31-32 in class and students turned them in. For Monday students need to finish the timeline (WB 27-28) and the map (WB 33- 34) for chapter 4. 10/14 Today in World History we went over the Roman conquest of the Mediterranean area during the time of the Roman Republic. We completed the questions on the WB pg. 27 (timeline) for that section. We also began working on WB pages 31-32 which we will complete in class tomorrow. For tomorrow students need to read pages 88-94. 10/13 Today in World History we began looking at the beginnings of Roman Civilization. We also went over the Early Roman Republic. We completed the items on WB pg. 27 for sections 1 and 2. For tomorrow students need to read pages 83-88. 10/12 Today in World History students who had not finished on Thursday turned in their Ch. 3 (open book) test. We also finished watching the movie on Alexander the Great. Tomorrow we will be starting to look at the Roman Civilization. For tomorrow students need to read 77-79 in the textbook and know the answers to the questions at the top of page 80. 10/8 Today students in World History took their test on Chapter 3. Those who did not finish my do so at home using their textbook. 10/7 Today in World History we continued to watch the video on Alexander the Great. Tomorrow the students will have an open book test on Chapter 3. 10/6 Today in World History students turned in their Ch. 3 timeline (WB pg. 19- 20). We also began watching a video on Alexander the Great. 10/5 Today in World History we went over the last section in Chapter 3 on Greek Culture. Students turned in their Chapter 3 map (WB pg. 25-26). We also finished going over WB pg. 19 and students need to complete WB pg. 20 to turn in tomorrow. 10/1 Today in World History we talked about Alexander the Great and his empire. We finished working on WB pg. 24 and students turned it in. We completed question 10 about Alexander on WB pg. 19. We completed WB pg. 25 in class. For Monday, students need to read pgs. 67-74 and finish the map activity on WB pg. 26. We will be watching a movie on Alexander the Great next week and at this point I am planning a test on Thursday over this chapter on Greece. 9/30 Today in World History we outlined the third section of Chapter 3 on "The Fateful Century" which discussed the Persian and the Peloponnesian Wars. We also completed 6-9 on WB pg. 19 and began working on WB pg. 24 which we will finish tomorrow. 9/29 Today in World History we did outline notes of the first and second section of Chapter 3 on the Greek Civilizations. We also completed items 4 and 5 on WB pg. 19. For tomorrow students should read the next section (pgs. 62-65). 9/28 Today in World History students received their tests back and were able to make corrections to improve their scores. Students also completed items 1-3 on WB pg. 19 (Ch. 3 timeline activity). For tomorrow students need to read page 59-61 in their textbook. 9/24 Today in World History students took their Ch. 2 test. For Monday, they should read the first section of Chapter 3 on Ancient Greece (pg. 55-58). 9/23 Today we reviewed for the Chapter 2 test which will be tomorrow. Students received a 4x6 notecard that they can use for the test. The Ch. 2 map activity (WB pg. 13-14)was also due. 9/22 Today in World History we finished working on WB page 11. We then worked on WB page 13-14 (the Ch. 2 Map activity). They are due tomorrow. Tomorrow in class we will review for the Ch. 2 test which will be on Thursday. 9/21 Today in World History we looked at the Near Eastern Empires such as the Assyrians, the Chaldeans (Babylonians) and the Persians. We went over the last section of questions for the timeline which is due tomorrow (WB pg. 9- 10). We also began working on WB pg. 11 together in class.
