Let me be the first to welcome you to sixth grade! My name is Craig Carter,
and I am entering into my third year in the Belvidere School District. I
spent the past two years teaching fifth grade at Lincoln Elementary.
Realizing I had a continued passion for the middle school level, as this is
the level I was at before fifth grade, I jumped on the opportunity to come to
Central Middle School. Within this middle school concept manifests a “team”
atmosphere that I feel is both positive and rewarding for students, parents,
and teachers. Within this team concept, I will be teaching all the Social
Studies for our team in the upcoming year, as well as one section of Language
Arts. Mrs. Buttikofer and Ms. Underhill will be teaching Math and Science
respectively, as well as a Language Arts section of their own. We look
forward to this arrangement, as we have passion for our particular subjects
that we have chosen.
Allow me to take the opportunity to give some background information about
myself. I am a life-long resident of northern Illinois, having graduated
from Hononegah High School, and later from Northern Illinois University. I
am a third generation teacher, and look forward to continuing the family
tradition. I am married to a wonderful woman, who is an elementary teacher.
To clear up any confusion, I am devoted to all Chicago sports teams. I am an
avid Bears fan, and look forward to the upcoming season, whether that is good
or bad. Unfortunately, my wife is a devoted Green Bay Packer fan.
This year will be a great learning experience for both the students and the
staff. In order to show students that learning is indeed a life-long
process, I believe that it is important to model that in everyday life. We
will work hard in sixth grade to get ready for the challenges that will be
thrown at us in the future.
Communication between parents and teachers is increasingly important. I look
forward to working with you on an individual basis to ensure that every
student has the opportunity to succeed in sixth grade!
