Welcome!!!
I was originally born in Belvidere and grew up on a farm in Caledonia.
I have a home in Rockford where I live with my daughter, Teaguen, and when I
am not teaching or taking classes at NIU, I enjoy making yarn (spinning),
knitting, and reading.
When we are not in Illinois, Teaguen and I enjoy spending time in Florida. We
both love the beach! In July of 2009, we went to Florida and flew home with a
Siberian kitten. We named her Kisa Marinochka which means kitten of the sea.
I firmly believe that future teachers need the opportunity to see many
different styles of classroom instruction, because of this, each semester I
invite students from Northern Illinois University into my classroom for
observation hours.
As students enter this phase in their education, the Voyager team has chosen
to focus on communication and organizational skills. Sixth grade is the
perfect place to begin practicing both of these skills. We encourage
students to talk with their parents daily about what happens at school.
Agendas are filled out and stamped in the homebase classroom daily. Eschool
is a web based grading program that allows parents to see their student(s)
