3rd Grade Chapter Books
In third grade, most students have transitioned from, "learning to read," and are now "reading to learn." Now that they have reached this level, it is important to keep them interested in and excited about reading! One big "theme" we are working on this year is choosing "just right' books. It is important to choose books that are at your child's independent reading level. If they are consistently choosing books that are too challenging, they will only become frustrated and may possibly lose interest in reading. If they are choosing stories that are too simple, they will not be expanding their vocabulary or content knowledge. It is alright if your child still wants to read picture books occasionally, but they should not be reading these all the time. If you are unsure of what type of books your child should be reading, please contact me for more information. I have provided below a variety of books from different levels and genres. The school library and public library are both good sources of information too!
