Dear Parents,
Every Friday your child will come home with homework in their Home Folder. The homework includes Math and Reading. Homework should be returned in your child's Home folder by the following Wednesday.
The Reading homework consists of a parent letter, spelling worksheets, high-frequency flashcards, and one or two decodable readers that focus on the skills that will be introduced the following week. Please complete spelling worksheets and return to school by the following Wednesday. The flashcards and decodable readers are to be kept for practice at home. Your child will be tested every Friday on the spelling words and high frequency words. Some ideas to help your child learn their spelling words are:
ü Magnetic letters
ü Writing the words in shaving cream (don’t worry clean up is easy)
ü Chanting the words
ü Writing the words on a dry erase board
Please encourage your child to learn their spelling words. It is important to encourage proper handwriting skills.
The Math homework will usually consist of 1-2 worksheets. These worksheets are review sheets of skills I have already introduced in class. These worksheets help reinforce the concepts. After a Chapter test there will be a 1 week break from math homework until the next chapter is introduced.
