Mrs. Sommer's Second Grade Class Website

My name is Jacqueline Sommer and this is my third year teaching second grade at Caseyville Elementary. I am extremely fortunate to work at a wonderful school with fantastic students and staff. I am a 2007 graduate of McKendree University with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Social Science and Language Arts. I am also endorsed to teach at the middle school level. Currently, I am working towards my Masters degree in Educational Technology through Webster University. I enjoy working with technology and using it to enhance my instruction.

 

My husband, Ryan, and I were married on June 1, 2007 in Disneyworld! We currently live in O'Fallon with our cat, Dallas, bird, Miles, and several fish. Our class pet, Twila, lives with us on the weekends! I have two wonderful parents who are retired Air Force. They spend their time riding their Harley, going to Cardinals games, and enjoying retired life. I grew up with the military lifestyle and had the fabulous opportunity to travel around a lot when I was younger. By the time I entered 4th grade I had already lived in six different states and attended five different elementary schools! My sister, Jen, liked the military lifestyle so much she decided to make a career out of it herself! She graduated from Colorado State University where she completed the ROTC program and was commissioned into the Air Force in 2004. Her husband, Jason, is also in the Air Force. They are both Maintenance Officers and work on the new F22s! They recently had their first child which makes me a first-time aunt!

In addition to teaching I also coach the Collinsville Middle School cheerleading squad. I cheered for 8 years so I really enjoy staying active in the sport! In my spare time I love to run and workout. I like to try to do something active each day. Ryan and I like to hike and camp as well. Both our families are avid water-skiers, so in the summer you can usually find us out on the water!
