I have been teaching for 34 years. I began teaching in 1973 at Middleton
School in Skokie School District 73.5. After three years I transferred to
Hillel Torah Day School where I taught 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. After raising
my two daughters, Jessica and Shayna, I decided to return to graduate school
and received a Master's Degree in Technology Education from the University of
Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. I received two fellowships from the university
for Instructional Technology. I began teaching in District 299 as a computer
instructor and was promoted to Tech Director. There I helped to expand the
technology program and managed the school-wide computer system. There were two
labs, one for the students and one for the teachers. Each classroom had 3
computers. Students and teachers learned how to use them for instructional
integration. During this time, I taught computer classes at National Louis
University. When I left the school, I am proud to say that the teacher who
took over my position, was one of my students at the University.
I came to Golf School District 67 in fall of 1996. I began by teaching the
teachers in an after school program to help them use computers in the
classroom. Starting in March of 1997, I taught classes and managed Golf's Tech
Center. I have been at Hynes Elementary School since 2001. I enjoy teaching
all the students how to use computers and to expand their interest in
technology.
On a personal note, my two daughters, Jessica and Shayna, are both married.
Jessica is married to a wonderful photographer,Yudi. They have two children,
Aliyah and Ben-Tzion. I love being a grandma! Shayna recently married Adi.
