I received my BS degree in Human Developement and Family Studies from the
University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2001. I then went on to obtain my
Masters degree in School Psychology at Trinity University in San Antonio, TX
in 2004. I then completed my internship at, and continued to work for, the
Arlington Independent School District in Arlington, TX for two years. I
returned to Chicago in August, 2006 and am THRILLED to be here! I am excited
about working for Golf School District 67 and am looking forward to getting
to know all the students, staff members, and parents. It is a unique
experience working for such a small school district and this year will be
interesting for me since I am coming from such a large urban district. I
look forward to the challenge and am ready to get started!
As a school psychologist it is my job to observe and evaluate students
having difficulty in their general education classrooms. I assess for the
possible existence of emotional difficulties, academic difficulties, and
pervasive developmental disorders. I also participate on the problem
solving team for both schools and assist in figuring out whether or not
Special Education is a service which may help any individual child. This is
not all I do during my work day though. I spend much of my time doing
individual and group counseling, assisting with crisis situations, and
consulting with teachers. Ultimately it is my goal to ensure every child
feels positive about themselves and their overall school experience. My
mission is to create a positive and safe learning environment.
