READING: The students will be starting the year with Readers Theater. They will be performing short plays for each other. This is a great opportunity for the students to practice their oral expression and fluency. Every Monday we will be having reading buddies with Mrs. Sadkin's class. This gives the students the opportunity to share their reading expertise with their reading buddy.
SPELLING: We have a pre-test on Mondays and a final test on Fridays. If a student receives 100% on the pre-test, they will have a more challenging list to learn for the test on Friday. Spelling sentences and pages are due on Fridays.
WRITING: The students will be writing in their journals and learn more about narrative writing.
MATH: We are learning all about place value and decimals. We will also be working on our math facts by taking Mad Minutes.
SOCIAL STUDIES: The students are learning the 50 states and capitals! They are also completing a state report which they will present to the entire 4th grade.
