When can students take Read-Up tests?

Opportunities to take Read-Up Tests varies. Students are allowed to take a
Read-Up test any time they are finished with an assigment early and we are
still waiting for others to finish. We also have time each afternoon during
Read-Aloud time. There is also time before or after some Specials where we
do D.E.A.R (Drop Everything And Read).

What if the student doesn't understand the homework?

If homework is confusing or hard, please write a note addressed to me or
personally call me. I am available to answer questions and am willing to
work with the student one-on-one during Recess! Please don't hesitate to
contact me about homework!

What is Book It!? Does my child have to participate in it?

Book It! is a reading-incentive program sponsored by Pizza Hut. Students
are not required to participate, however, they are encouraged to do so. In
order to receive a free Personal Pan-Pizza coupon, students must read
minimum FOUR book each month. In addition, they also must write a letter to
one of the authors (the page is attached). If students meet the minimum
requirement each month of reading four books AND hand in their sheets, they
will participate in a pizza party in March.
