Hypothesis

If an experiment is conducted in which _______________________ then it is believed that ________________________________.

Variable

This is the thing that you are testing to see if it affects your experiment.  What are you changing in the experiment?  (Sunlight/darkness, type of plant food, etc.)

Materials

This is a bulleted list of materials used including exact amounts of liquids, solids in metric (mL, L, mm, cm, m, mg, g, kg)

Safety

This is where you write what safety precautions you will take

Procedure

This is a numbered, step-by-step DETAILED account of the experiment.  It should be numbered and easy to follow.  It is like a cookbook. Anyone should be able to pick it up and re-do your experiment EXACTLY as you did it.

Results

This is where you put the data.  In graph form and written out, what happened. NOT why it happened, only what you saw both quantitative (numbers) and qualitative (what you saw-observations)

Conclusion

1.    Restate the purpose

2.    Briefly restate the procedure

3.    State what happened in your experiment

4.    State why you think this happened (use any info you already know to back it up)

5.    Was your hypothesis supported or not supported? (not right or wrong)

6.    Was there error in your experiment?

7.    How can you improve the experiment?
