Grant Information
The Hiawatha Education Foundation will be initiating it�s seventh round of
mini-grants during the second semester of the 2006-2007 school year. The
Foundation has been in existence for eight year and looks forward to being
able to fund grants in larger amounts in the future. Until our
capitalization has reached a more substantial sum, we are pleased to be able
to offer grants in amounts of up to $600.00
We have received and funded grant proposals that were diverse and
imaginative. They have included books, performances, speakers, training
programs, and materials to enhance the arts. We have funded field trips and
nurtured school spirit programs. We urge you to check with your building
administrator before filing a grant application to see if funds are
available through regular Board of Education channels, but our committee
will look seriously at any and all applications received.
The guidelines that our committee uses to select our recipients are as
follows:

Some of the grant recipients have been funded more than once, and you may
submit more than one application. Take your time and use the fall semester
to evaluate your needs and make up your wish lists. We ask that you then
submit your completed application by February 1st, 2007. The application
form is very simple but if you have any questions, please contact Carole
Murphy at 522-6284. Applications may be left in the Honors mailbox in the
building offices. All funds granted must be used before the end of the 2007-
2008 school year or the grant will revert to the Education Foundation.
After grant funds are used, we ask that you complete an evaluation form
which will be supplied to you. This helps us to assess the success of our
programs. We also ask that you supply a short article, suitable for
publication, describing the use of your grant money. If possible, we
encourage you to submit a photo as well. Grant funds will be dispensed
through the school bookkeeping process after receipts or other paperwork has
been submitted.
