As we begin learning פרק ג in פרשת שמות, we will continue focusing on the following skills:
1) identifying words with similar ideas by looking at שורשים, root words
2) looking at a word's prefix and suffix to determine accurate meaning
3) improving our ability to put the events of a פרק into the correct order
Please make sure that your child reads their assigned pesukim aloud three times each night and that they can answer the appropriate questions. This will help develop reading skills as well as a connection with the words of the תורה itself. Additionally, this will help your child prepare for the test in a more effective and relaxed manner.
It would also be very helpful if your child reviewed the questions on the blue pages of the workbook that correspond with the pesukim learned in class and worked on studying the new words learned daily. Test questions and vocabulary come directly form these two sections of the workbook.
We will also be beginning learning Sefer Shoftim in Navi this week, starting off with a discription of the wars Bnei Yisrael fought in order to conquer the land after the death of Yehoshua. We will use our Navi lessons to reinforce the previously noted skills as well, although our primary focus will be on comprehension of the events in the Navi and the moral lessons to be learned from these events.
