8A Social Studies
 Week of November 23rd-
We are finishing the Bill of Rights, and we are beginning to study the Constitution.  We will be having weekly quizzes throughout the unit.  Our Final test will be on Thursday, February 4th.  This is a very exciting and educational unit, and I am looking forward to learning it with you.

Week of November 9th-
We are studying the Articles of Confederation and why they needed to be revised.  Our Founding Fathers are beginning to write a constitution.  It's amazing how long our document has lasted.

Week of October 20th
We engaged in our Constitution Convention and presented our new states, flags, money, and products.  We learned how difficult it is to trade when we don't have the same currency.  We will begin to look at how our Founding Fathers solved these problems.

Week of October 13th-
We're back at school and finishing our Revolutionary War Unit.  I am very excited that we are doing an art project with Mr. Glassman making Revolutionary War Trading Cards.  We will be with him for the next three Tuesdays completing these.  Watch for our game!
In class we will be making our own states with flags, rules, and issues.  We'll find out how hard it was for our Founding Fathers to agree.  This will be culminated by a government meeting.

Week of September 21st-

We are studying the Revolutionary War.  So far, the colonists are fighting, and Thomas Jefferson has written the Declaration of Independence.  We're learning about King George III and his Intolerable Acts as well as Thomas Paine's Common Sense.

Making parchment paper was fun.  We will be writing a letter to King George III.  Hopefully, he will listen to us.

Week of September 2nd-
We had a wonderful first week of class.  We are studying the states and capitols and reconstructing our own United States maps.

We also are beginning to learn about the Revolutionary War and why people left Great Britain. We are also taking notes and learning how to use the notes to the best of our abilities.

Assignment:  Due Tuesday, September 8th-Chapter 5, Section 1 and take notes.

Due Friday, September 11th-United States map

Welcome to History.  It will be an exciting year filled with learning about our past governments and events.  We have new books this year with many interesting activities.  Please bring your spiral and pen everyday to class.  We will work together to complete projects, debate issues, and study how our nation evolved.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all again.  We will have a terrific year!
