We are taking our new hardcover reading bookhome tonight. Please read the story written on the reading log.
We had an exciting visit with Firefighter Bill from the Skokie Fire Department. He spoke to the whole first grade about fire safety and showed us his equipment. After the visit each class made firetrucks out of graham crackers. It was a great treat.
This year, we are very fortunate to have Ms. Esther Kost, a student teacher from Blitstein Teacher's Institute of Hebrew Theological College. She will be an asset to our classroom.
Gym Reminder
We are excited to announce the first-grade gym schedule.
Class 1A:
Tuesday
Thursday
Class 1B:
Tuesday
Friday
In order to participate, it is imperative that all students come to school prepared for gym class.
· Students must bring or wear a pair of gym shoes on gym days. We suggest keeping an extra pair in school.
· Girls must have pants or knee-length shorts. We strongly suggest that they keep an extra pair in their lockers.
· We recommend that girls do not wear dresses on gym days, because it takes too long to change to and from gym clothes if they are wearing something that is one piece. They should wear a shirt with a skirt. This will make the transition to and from gym run smoothly for everyone.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Feel free to contact us with any questions.

Daily Snack
We were pleased to see that many students brought healthy snacks on the first day. Parents are reminded to send two healthy snacks - one for the morning and one for the afternoon. Again, the snack should consist of a fruit or vegetable (no peanuts or tree nuts).
