Second Grade Scoop
December 18, 2009
Dear Parents,
We had such a great week! The students celebrated the festival of lights in
many different ways...
On Monday, the students finished the final step in the
writing process to publish their piece on their favorite part of Chanukah.
Each writing sample is nicely displayed in our classroom.
On Wednesday, the students learned how to make oil from an olive. They were
involved in the entire process, from squeezing the olives to pouring the oil
into the menorah and lighting the cotton wick.
On Thursday, the students had a terrific time on their field trip to the Jump
Zone. It was such a great trip, and everyone, including the teachers, had
fun. It was a nice way to wrap up our week!
We sent home a packet for your child to work on over break. It is not a
homework assignment, but merely a math review and fun learning activities.
Should your child complete the packet, he/she can bring it back to school on
Monday, January 4th and receive a prize.
We hope you have enjoyed your Chanukah celebration with friends and family.
Have a terrific break and see you next year!
