Dear Parents,

Welcome back! We hope that you had an enjoyable and restful vacation. The
children eagerly returned to their daily activities. They were excited to
share their experiences. Each child told a story about his or her vacation
and drew a picture, which was included in a book about vacation.

This week we began our new unit- winter (חורף). The children created a scene
of a blizzard. The children were also excited to make a snowman (איש שלג)
using “indoor snow”- shaving cream and glue. Our sensory table was turned
into a “winter wonderland.” Using different shapes of ice cubes, the
children created various structures. Also another activity was painting with
colored ice cubes.

We are in the midst of making our winter man and dressing him in a hat (
כובע), mittens (כפפות), scarf (צעיף), and boots (מגפים). The children
enjoyed reading a new Hebrew book entitled איש שלג. We are learning new
vocabulary words that relate to winter.

In this week’s parsha, Parshat Shmot, we spoke about the enslavement of Bnei
Yisrael in Mitzrayim and the birth and development of Moshe Rabeinu into the
leader of Bnei Yisrael. We spoke about his escape from Mitzrayim and going
to Midyan, his encounter with Hashem, and the burning bush. He later
returned to Mitzrayim with his brother Aharon to free his people. While in
Midyan, Moshe married Tzipporah, who was the daughter of Yitro. She gave
birth to two sons, Gershom and Eliezer. Other incidents in the parsha
include the stick turning into a snake, the hand turning white, and the water
turning into blood.

The Shabbat Emahot this week were Eve and Daphna, and the Avot were Leedor
and Josh Felix. Thank you to Adam and his family and Tehilla and her family
for the gifts that you gave to our classroom in honor of various birthdays.
The children enjoy playing with them very much!
