Dear Parents,
This week has been an active, fun-filled week of hands-on activities. The
children are still involved in learning about stav – the fall season. While
the children were observing the leaves under a magnifying glass and seeing
the veins that feed the leaves, they also did a leaf rubbing project that
traced out its veins. The children created their very own fall tree by
tearing fall-colored paper to form leaves. They also created a “fall man”
with the leaves. They are all on display in our classroom.
This week we began to present to the children the concept of patterns with
different objects. The children are beginning to recognize what is a pattern
and what is not. We will continue to work with patterns throughout the year.
The children are excited about the coming Yom Ha’Orchim this Friday. They
have been busy singing and preparing in honor of the special guests. What a
beautiful way to imbue this beautiful mitzvah of hachnasat orchim! We are
sure that their arts and crafts project will enhance the Shabbat table.
In this week’s parsha we spoke about Avraham and his wonderful mitzvah of
hachnasat orchim. Another very important mitzvah of which we spoke was bikur
cholim. We hope that the children understood the lesson of how important it
is to treat guests in the proper way and to be sensitive to the needs of
people who are ill. In conjunction with this, the children learned about the
three Malachim and the mission each one had and the ohel of Avraham with its
four doors.
Happy birthday to Agam, Hersch, Zack, and Joey. Thank you for the delicious
treats. It was nice to celebrate your day with you.
