Warm-Ups
Every day, there will be a problem or problems on the board or overhead for students to complete. Students should start the warm-up when they enter the classroom. All work and solutions need to be completed for each warm-up problem. Warm-ups will be collected at the end of every week and will be worth one participation point for each day. Students are responsible for making up missed warm-ups due to absences.
Homework
Students should expect homework daily. Also, all class work that is not completed during class will need to be completed for homework. It will be checked for completion and understanding the following day. Scoring of homework will be done by a stamp system as follows:
5 pts/ Red Star Stamp ALL of the assigned problems are attempted and work is shown for EVERY problem
3 pts/ Blue Smiley Face Stamp Half of the assigned problems are attempted with work shown for every problem; All assigned problems are attempted, but work is not shown for every problem
0 pts/ No stamp Less than half or none of the assigned problems are attempted; All of the assigned problems have answers, but no work or calculations are shown at all; Half of the assigned problems are attempted, but work is not shown for EVERY problem
Late homework will not be accepted without a pass (see below).
Passes
At the beginning of each quarter, three passes will be given out to each student. These passes can be used anytime throughout the quarter. They can be used as a one-day extension for late work. The pass does not replace the homework assignment, but it provides the student with an extra day to turn in the assignment. At the end of the quarter, any remaining passes can be turned in for extra credit. Passes will not carry over into the next quarter.
Cheating
Cheating will not be tolerated in any form. If a student is caught cheating, a zero will be given for that assignment/quiz/test.
1st Offense: Zero for the assignment/quiz/test and phone call home
2nd Offense: Automatic F for the current quarter
3rd Offense: Automatic F for the current semester
Absences
Students are responsible for finding out about classroom activities that they missed and scheduling a time to make up a quiz or test due to an absence. Students should check the class website for assignments and any notes/handouts that they missed. Students will be given the same number of absent days plus one to make up any missed work. Any additional days will require a pass or the assignment will be given a zero. If students are absent the day before a quiz/test, they will be expected to take the quiz/test with the rest of the class. If students are absent the day of a test/quiz, they will be given the same number of absent days plus two to make up a missed quiz/test. All make-ups must be arranged by the student. If students are absent due to a field trip, they must see me BEFORE they go. All work must be completed the day they return.
All Lincoln-Way East rules found in the Parent-Student Handbook are applied to this class.
