Classroom Rules & Procedures 2009-2010 Teacher: Ms. Gross Course Title: Individualized Algebra AB The following information describes the classroom procedures and course expectations for students enrolled in this course. Students are expected to review this information with their parents and return the bottom portion of this sheet by August 21, 2009. Arrival: Students are expected to be in their seats at the sound of the bell. It is not acceptable for a student to come running into the classroom as the bell sounds. Students should: 1. Sit in assigned seat. 2. Check for a bell ringer assignment. 3. Take out homework and place on own desk. 4. Begin work on bell ringer. Behavior: Students are expected to treat each other and all staff with respect. In return, each student can expect to be treated with respect by other students and all staff. Teasing, ridiculing or harassment of any kind will absolutely not be tolerated. Students are expected to be attentive during instruction and to take notes when appropriate. All other rules and policies stated in the LWE Handbook apply and will be strictly enforced. Students are expected to come to class prepared to participate, with homework completed. Behavioral Consequences: Depending upon the frequency and severity of the behavior violations, one or more of the following consequences will occur: (a) verbal warning; (b) conference with teacher; (c) removal from classroom; (d) phone call to parent; (e) counselor referral; and/or (f) discipline referral/green sheet. All other rules and policies stated in the LWE handbook regarding behavioral consequences apply. Class Materials - These materials are required on a daily basis: Calculator: Must be a TI-83, TI-83 Plus or TI-84. Academic Planners, pencils, erasers, spiral notebook. Homework: Homework will be given on a daily basis, with few exceptions. Homework must be completed in pencil. Each fully completed assignment is worth 10 points. Late homework will be accepted for half credit until the day before the unit test. The homework make-up policy stated in the LWE Handbook will be enforced. It is the student’s responsibility to ask for missed work. Academic Dishonesty: Academic dishonesty violations result in a grade of zero for the test, quiz or assignment. Academic dishonesty includes: A. Using hidden notes, copying from another student or helping another student during a test. B. Giving test questions or answers to a member of a later class or receiving test questions or answers from a member of an earlier class. C. Submitting another student’s work as one’s own. D. Stealing or copying another student’s written assignment, paper, project, or take-home test or quiz. E. Permitting another student to copy one’s homework assignment, paper, project, report or take-home test or quiz. F. Changing answers and seeking credit on an examination after the examination has been graded and returned. Grading Scale: A+ 98-100% A 93-97% A- 90-92% B+ 87-89% B 83-86% B- 80-82% C+ 77-79% C 73-76% C- 70-72% D+ 67-69% D 63-66% D- 60-62% F 0-59% Quarter grades are made up as follows: Homework – 25%; Quizzes – 35%; Tests – 40% Semester grades are made up as follows: Each quarter grade = 40% Final Exam = 20%
