Hello,
Thank you for visiting this page. Welcome.
I would like to introduce myself. I have been teaching in Mahomet-Seymour
for over 20 years, and worked in other capacities within our school before
that.
I've also taught in Arlington Heights and Elk Grove. I've taught 6th grade,
3rd grade and 5th grade over the years, as well as P.E. I've taught at the
middle school level too. But, without question, 5th grade is my favorite!
My husband Tom is employed at the University of Illinois Athletic Department
as a director in charge of special events. He coached wrestling at U of I
as well as here at MSHS, and also coached football. I have two married
sons, both teachers and coaches, and 4 grandchildren. We have a great time
as a family.
I received my teaching degree from Indiana State University and my master's
degree from the University of Illinois. Surprisingly, I still take classes
from U of I every year, and enjoy it very much.
My hobbies include reading, cooking, antiquing, hiking and bicycling. I
enjoy all sports, and look forward to seeing my fifth graders compete
throughout the year. I truly enjoy children.
I hope this gives you a little background on me. I'd be delighted to meet
you if you wish. Just email me or give me a jingle.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Porter
Our mission is to try to do our best at all times, to accept success as a
building block for things higher, and to take failure as part of the process
of learning. Laughter is always appropriate in this classroom.
