The Spelling Test for List 10 is postponed until next week. Please have your child prepared to take it during the week of 12/14-12/18. There is no additional spelling homework.

Spelling Homework is due on Friday, December 11 Pick 3 of the following activities. Make sure that your work is NEAT. It should be completed on lined paper.
1. Write your words two times each. The first time using lower case letters, the second time using upper case letters. Example: trip – TRIP
2. Write each of your words using a different color for each letter.
3. Type your spelling words on the computer. You can email them to me if you would like malikfirstgrade@gmail.com. Please have a print out as well.
4. Two color words. Write the consonants in blue and the vowels in red.
5. Write your words using fancy letters. Curly q’s, dots, bubble letters etc.
6. Write your words going across and down. Example: trip

7. Adding words – Write your spelling words then add up the value. Consonants are worth 10, vowels are worth 5.
Example: trip 10+10+5+10 = 35

Please have your child study the spelling of ALL 10 words. It may be helpful to give your child a practice test at home. I will be dictating 2 sentences for the language arts portion of the test. (Ex: The cat is big.) Students will be graded on correctly writing the sentence - capital letter, ending punctuation, spelling, letter formation.
