Materials:

            Pen, pencil (blue or black ink only)

            Textbook (will be used every day)

            Calculator (SEE ATTACHED POLICY)

            Goggles (must be splash resistant)

            Notebook (will be checked periodically, therefore must be orderly and contain only chemistry)

            Loose-leaf paper (for homework assignments)

            Folder or three ring binder (storage for chemistry materials only)

 

Objectives:

           

-          gain an appreciation of how chemistry impacts every day life

-          gain an understanding of the chemistry around you every day

-          become good problem solvers

-          acquire basic chemical knowledge

 

Guidelines:

 

-          be in your seat and quiet when the bell rings

-          no food, gum or drink in the classroom unless approved by instructor

-          cheating of any sort will result in an F and a zero on the assignment

-          if absent you are responsible to get the work you missed and make it up in a timely fashion

-          late work will be graded for zero credit

-          extra help is available before and after school each day

-          ask questions constantly

-          enjoy the class

 

Grading:  Marian Grade Scale will be used

 

            Labs 40%

            Tests/Quizzes 40%

            Participation, homework 20%
