How do I request a teacher recommendation?
By approaching them in person. It is helpful to give them something in writing that lists the college(s) you are applying to along with any deadlines. Also, giving them a resume or listing of your extracurricular activities is helpful. Be considerate and give your teachers plenty of time (at least 3 weeks is suggested)! Teachers will then forward their recommendations to the guidance office where they will be kept on file and sent to the colleges that need them. These recommendations are confidential, so you won't be allowed to viewthem. Don't forget to formally thank your teachers for taking thetime to provide a professional letter of recommendation.Back to Top
