March 30, 2009-Tyler
Once again, this is Tyler Duebbert-Balke, coming to you from Mrs. Robinson’s 5th grade classroom,
with this newest edition of the Robinson Reporter, for March 30, 2009.
This morning began as all our mornings begin. First, we did our Language worksheet. Then one of us
student’s took lunch count. After that came our usual Morning Meeting. Following, we did our Math
Minute, which smoothly led us into Math lessons.
In Math, we studied transformations, such as reflection (flipping a 2 - D figure), rotation (turning a 2
- D figure) and translation (sliding a 2 - D figure). For homework, we were assigned a worksheet on
these transformations. Because we had talked about transformations so much, we were pretty sure
homework would not be a problem to complete.
Following Math, we excitedly spoke about moving on to the 6th Grade. Yay! Middle School! We
discussed that the hardest part of moving on will be to make sure we write down all our
assignments. Did you know the reason there are locks on lockers in Middle School is because you
keep all your personal goods in them, and you don’t want anyone to steal them?!
This discussion quickly led us to Reading. There, Mrs. Robinson passed out novels called Tuck
Everlasting, by Natalie Babbitt. For this subject’s homework today, we had to read the prologue of
our new novel.
Spelling was next in our busy day. As we do most Monday’s, we took a Spelling Pretest. I missed
four words, so I have my studying cut out for me! Homework in Spelling was as Unscramble Sheet.
From Spelling our day raced on to Science. We made atoms. Of course, they weren’t real atoms! Real
atoms are tiny; in fact they are microscopic. My atom was Phosphorous, number 15 on the Periodic
Table of Elements. Our electrons were made out of little puff - balls that were fuzzy, while our
neutrons and protons were made from paper. Homework was a packet where we had to make a Bohr
Diagram of electrons. Also included in the packet were symbols that represent elements that we
needed to look up on the Periodic Table.
We hopped along to P.E., where we have been playing Badminton. We played games against other
teams today. Sam and I are on a team, and we played against Anna and Cole. We won 22 – 6! Way to
go!
Wrapping up our fast-paced day was Word Wisdom. We had a Pretest. Guess what? I got 100%! On
our Pretest! Then we read the story that went with our lesson in Unit 5. The story was about money
and business.
Our day had come to a quick end. Everyone was ready to go home, some of us to finish homework,
others to play outside in this great weather. Another great day in Mrs. Robinson’s 5th grade, reported
by Tyler Duebbert-Balke. So long!

March 26, 2009- Anna
Hi! My name is Anna Reischman. I am reporting on March 26, 2009 -- in other words, the day of our
field trip. I will take you through the day. So come with me though our day. I’ m so happy we are
going on a field trip Let’s go!
We did Contig against Miss Hoffman. Then we had some time before the trip, so
Mrs. Robinson read to us from the book she has been reading aloud. We went to music and sang,
and then to the bus we went!
We went to Forsyth Park to eat and play. Next, we went to the Richland Community Collage for our
field trip. First, we saw a petting zoo. That was especially fun! We saw machines that help farmers.
And then we saw how to be safe with stuff like liquid that we don’t know about.
We learned about erosion by looking at a model. We talked about things that are needed to make
chicken noodle soup. Then we learned about horiculture (planting flowers). We all thought that was
cool! Then we talked about safety, like what to do if you’re alone at home and someone rings the
doorbell. Finally, we enjoyed popcorn. That’s the end of our field trip. It was fun. Thanks for reading
my Robinson Reporter. Bye!

March 25, 2009- Jared
irst we had to do paragraph editing to start the day.
Then we zoomed into morning meeting time an there was some
interesting stories.
Next we went into math by doing a math minute then we
took a short field trip down to Florey's class and played are
contig tournament.
Then we did reading and first we read A.R and I read
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and then Mrs. Dulak came
in and talked about encyclopedias .
Next we flew into Word Wisdom and took a test that was
pretty easy. Then we had Band and worked on songs for our
concert an I play the trombone and it's pretty fun. next we had
are math test.
Next we went into lunch and recess and it was fun.
After lunch we graded our math test And Mrs. Robinson read from
The Watson's go to Birmingham.
Next we did Social Studies and read out of the book.
Next we flew into my favorite subject P.E and we played
badminton. Then we went back to social studies. Then in Study
hall I worked on social studies homework.

March 24, 2009- Justin
Now we are back from the break and now Justin is now going to tell us want did Mrs. Robinson’s
class and today was a very exciting day.
First we did math. In math we graded our homework. I think I didn’t do that well because I missed
some. Next we practice for are test like story problems.
Then we were riding into reading. In reading we read are A.R books. I was reading Harry Potter and
The Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K Rowling and it is a really great book and my favorite part of the
book is when Harry’s aunt [Not Harry’s aunt Dudley aunt.] Aunt Marge got inflated and floated
away.
Next we were going to music and we were practicing for are concert. And it is Rock and Roll music.
Their will be some of the same songs from last year songs.
Then we were cruising into computer class which we first had to do Ultra Key that teaches you how
to type fast. Then we had free choice which I did kid pics. Then we had to watch some power points
and the topic was national parks.
Then we played contig which is math game. And we have to do a tournament for it and see who goes
to the Macon County Tournament. I did really good today because I got 33 and 31 points.
Then we did science and we are studying Atoms. Then we did how much is there or another name
like that. And we had to count how many protons in atoms.
Then we were going to lunch and at lunch recess I played football. For lunch we had ravioli for lunch.
The lunch today was okay not great.
After lunch Mrs. Robinson read the Watsons go to Birmingham 1963. The book is good so far.
Then my class went to P.E and we were doing Bad mitten. We started practicing are serves and how
to swing the racket. We had to practice with partners and I was partners with Luke and we wanted to
see who could serve the farthest and Luke won.
The last subject of the day is Word Wisdom and did are skits. We also had to be in partners for it and
I was partners with Jared. We had to make a weather forecast silly or serious and Jared and I did very
silly and it was funny. I think a bunch of them were silly.
Now that’s the of the end of the exciting day and now lets go to Happy Gilmore with the weather.

March 20, 2009- Sam
It was a Friday morning when I realized that it was picture day; but I also realized it was going to
be a fun, weird, and abnormal day. We started the day off quick, hurrying to math. Everyone was
confident that we would catch up in math easily…until we found out that it was time for our pictures
to be taken. After everyone struggled to get in the positions they wanted us to sit in for pictures, we
finally got back to the classroom to finish math and move on to reading.
In reading, we all tried to finish our simile top ten book. When everyone finally learned how to put
the book together, we had some time to read before band. And on the way down to band, we all
knew that the hard part was over…because it was.
When we got back to the classroom, we all started to watch a movie, Horton Hears a Who. We
watched this movie because we won the box top contest for getting the most coupons. We all
watched until we were interrupted by recess. Then we went to lunch.
After lunch, we finished up the movie and then went to P.E., where we played basketball for our
very short 20 minutes. Then we went back to our classroom where we packed up and waited to find
out what the surprise celebration the teachers had in store for us.
We went back to the gym for the celebration. It turns out that the surprise was a celebration for
ISATS. Most of us got prizes for bug club and honor roll or high honor roll. Last, we all went upstairs,
hoping to be able to have Friday frenzy; but we didn’t have enough time. No one was disappointed
because we had already had enough fun for the day.

March 19, 2009- Alexa
Hello, This is the Robinson Reporter. In this report I will be telling you all about what I did today.
From math to word wisdom, I’ll tell it all. So, enjoy!!!
The first thing we do each day is paragraph editing. That is where you have to edit a paragraph.
Pretty obvious. Our subject was about a person in a photography studio who works for this famous
photographer. It wasn’t the best subject we’ve had.
Next we will do morning meeting. Morning meeting is where everyone gets to share a story or
something with the class. It always starts out with the usual “good morning” and then “good
morning” back. I pass these warrior books around that I just got. Morning meetings are pretty fun.
MATH TIME!!!!!! WHOO HOO! (Not really.) I’m not a big fan of math. I guess I have to do it anyway
though. It starts out with a math minute. I’m glad she didn’t grade it because I missed two out of
ten. Next in math we did a partner activity with dividing fractions. It was okay, I guess. My partner
was Payton, my BFF.
In reading, which is the next subject, we did this book called the Top Ten Idioms. It’s so fun because
you get to draw and write funny stories. It takes a while to finish, though. Independent reading
comes after the idiom book. At this time you get to read a chapter book. This is probably my favorite
subject because I don’t like reading. I absolutely LOVE IT!!!! I usually read a warriors book, which is
about cats, but today I was reading Harry Potter: The Sorcerers Stone. It’s a real good book.
After reading we headed to music. We’re working on a concert and I love the songs. When music is
done, our class heads to computers. In computers, me and my partner Payton, who so happened to
be my partner before, finished a project about a national park called Salt River Bay. We produced it
to the class.
While heading back to the room, I grabbed my science book. We watched a Bill Nye the science guy
on atoms and then did a song about them. Next came a worksheet. It was pretty easy, though, and I
had it done in no time.
I was so glad it was lunchtime by now in the day because I was STARVING. It was called a beef patty
horseshoe if I remember correctly. It had one piece of bread and a hamburger patty with cheese fries
on top. It was delicious.
When we got back to our classroom our teacher read aloud. The book she read was called the
Watson goes to Birmingham 1963. I really like that book. If you get a chance, you should read it.
Next we did an idiom worksheet. My partners were Kira and Tyler. It was pretty easy, but some
problems we had to do process of elimination. We didn’t miss any I don’t think. Then I did a skit with
Anna, Kira, and Tyler. It was an idiom skit and our idiom was something about a carriage and a
horse. We had to act it out and other people had to guess it.
P.E. is next. We did basketball and my partners were Payton and Kira. We played around the world
and then pig. Payton won in pig.
We then worked a little more on our idiom book. We then had to go to Mrs. Underwood’s room
because our teacher had to leave. We had study hall in there and then went home.
Thank you for reading my report. I worked hard. I hoped you enjoyed it. Lastly, I’m so glad
tomorrow is Friday!

March 18, 2009- Alysa
Today I woke up not knowing that today was going to be almost exactly what we did yesterday and
the day before, with our substitute, but what I did know was that I was going to be Robinson
Reporter. Not everything was the same. First off, in the morning we did the same old thing. We
went through our homework to make sure everyone turned it in, but today was a little different. We
had never ending homework calling because our sub didn’t know what to do. Then we said the
pledge, did the morning meeting and there was a lot of interesting things that we shared.
Next we had math. Since we had a substitute, we didn’t do our math minute, we had to do it today,
but I wasn’t lazy (no offense to anyone) and I did mine yesterday so I got to sit and wait, fun, I would
of rather did math minute again. On math minute I got a -0, yeah! Then we graded our math
worksheet and I missed 2. I don’t think she’s grading it though because our substitute taught us
wrong. We had to rewrite all of the notes (exhausting). Then we had a challenge to do with our
neighbors, ding dong, it was a big challenge. OMG I’m so funny, I’m on a roll! Then we figured out
problems on our white boards. Then we had a math worksheet. Then a bathroom break.
Next was reading. We ate our snacks and read our books until Mrs. Dulak came. When Mrs. Dulak
came it was a blast. We made fortune tellers. Then we played a math game, contig. I lost against
Jared. Next we had band, but I’m not in band so I had to read.
Next we had science. We worked with our Periodic Tables and did Puns, they were punny, get it,
punny. Then we had science homework and it was a crossword puzzle backwards.
We had lunch next. For lunch was corndogs, milk, beans and goldfish. Yum!!! Before that we had
recess. I talked with friends and played football.
Social Studies!! Before that we read The Watsons go to Birmingham. Everyone is making fortune
tellers now because they liked it from when Mrs. Dulak came. For Social Studies we went over what
we did yesterday.
Last but not least, end of the day. We did our idiom books. Then we had study hall and I worked on
science. Now it’s the end of the day! Yeah!!!

March 17, 2009- Payton
HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!!
Today we had a sub, his name is Mr. Farris. We started our day with him telling us stuff about the
Irish. I think he must be part Irish. Next, we had math class. We learned how to divide fractions. It
was confusing and kind of hard. Reading class followed math. Today in reading we learned about
idioms. We made a top ten list of idioms. An idiom is a phrase like, "go bananas", or "button your
lip." Bill Nye the Science Guy is what we watched in Science today. The video was about matter.
Then it was off to recess. I played a two on two basketball game with Alexa, Taylor, and Marissah. We
had a good time. After recess it was time for lunch. We had chicken drummets, pie, corn, and milk.
Social Studies was after lunch. We did lesson 2 today. It talks about the fight for equality. P.E. was
after social studies. We practiced shooting in basketball. We got our words for Word Wisdom, our
test is on Friday. The last class of the day was study hall, I read my Harry Potter book. I am almost
finished. Today was a great day. The weather was great and I had fun at school with my friends. I
can't wait for Spring, which starts "officially" this Saturday.

March 16, 2009- Sydney
Today I am the Robinson Reporter. Mrs. Robinson was in Galesburg today so we had Mr. Farris as
our Substitute. After we did Lunch Count, homework count, and morning meeting, we did our math
minutes, which were easy. Then after we did our math sheets, we started learning how to divide
fractions and it’s not that hard. After we had our 2 hour math lesson, we got to unwind in our A.R.
books. The book I am reading is called Tarantula shoes, it is about a boy who really wants a pair of
these slam dunk sky jumpers for middle school and he earns all this money to buy a pair and that’s
how far I am in the book so. After reading, I, along with other people in my class go to Mrs.
Underwood’s for band since are’nt in band. When I got back from Mrs. Underwood’s, we did science
and we got to color our Periodic Tables. O.K, now me and the other students sometimes switch
desks with other people, so I switched with Maddie, then with Emily. After our switching, we finally
went to lunch and we had warm French toast sticks with hot sausage and syrup. Then we did Social
Studies and learned about Fredrick Douglass. Then we had P.E and started basketball and were
dribbling, but Mr. Robinson is with Mrs. Robinson so we had a substitute for P.E. After that, we were
doing some Idioms then we had studyhall. Then I looked at the assigment board and realized that we
have Math, science, social studies, & reading homework. So it was a really good day! -Sydney

March 13, 2009- Kira
Today is Friday, the most exciting day of the week! Mrs. Robinson said we would have a pretty big
day. We had 3 tests, report cards, PBIS party, and everything in between.
First, we had Morning Meeting, we had a lot of sharing. Our favorite thing to share about was
the Hoops and Yoyo card. It was a little cartoon card that would make sound, and it had all kinds of
crazy phrases and noises by the characters. We really enjoyed it.
Next, we had our Math Minute. It was basic math because we had just started our last level of
Math Minutes, and now they’re easier. Also in math, we did an activity with partners. We had to make
shapes out of all of our 5 cut out shapes. It got really confusing. My group only got about 5 total
shapes finished. The main key was to be very visual, which is hard for me to do.
After math, we jumped into reading! In reading, we reread The 39 Clues Form our Storyworks. I
think that this book is a really mysterious, and exciting book to read. Then, after we read the story
we took a quiz on it. We also read a few of our made-up stories about what we might think the 39
clues treasure would be. Also in reading, we had silent reading time. I was reading Bridge to
Terabithia. I read exactly 2 chapters. They were really interesting chapters, too.
Then we had our Word Wisdom quiz. It was short and really easy. We got through with it in
about 5 to 10 minutes. That’s how short it was!
Soon after that, we went to computers. When we were in computers, we went to Study Island. I
was so glad because we got to play the game version. My favorite game is the Ski Jump. If you get a
question right, you go down the hill then, when you get to the ramp, you jump and do all kinds of
cool tricks.
Quickly after that, we went to band. In band, we started on number 1 all the way to somewhere
around the 50’s. I play the drum, which means you have to stand during the whole thing. Everyone
else was complaining that their lips hurt while we were complaining that our legs and arms hurt also.
It was one of those times when you want to relax and stop what you’re doing, but you can’t.
When we got back to class, we played sparkle. We did this so we could “study” before taking the
real test. I got out, not by spelling a word wrong, but by being next to the person who says
“SPARKLE.” Everyone hates when that happens. Our winner was then Alexa, Congratulations! Then, of
course, we took our spelling test.
Then, we did our Friday Folders. We had a lot of papers to bring home. Everyone was zooming
around trying to get papers to the right desk. It was hard because we had just moved desk about the
day before, so no one knew where anyone sat.
After all the craziness was over, we voted for our 3rd quarter good citizen award. For 1st
Quarter, the good citizen award went to Sam and Kira, for kindness, for 2nd quarter the awards went
to Collyn and Alexa, for responsibility. After lunch, we will find out the winners.
For lunch, I played a game with my friends that we made up. For some reason we made up a
game that you would have to step on everyone’s shadow, once you were stepped on you had to run
down and back to the basketball hoop, then you could play again. When we went inside to eat, we
had macaroni, and it was really good. The bad thing was that we had P.E first, so I didn’t get to eat it
all. That’s okay though I can always eat it next time.
Since we had P.E right after lunch, we got to play Mrs. Underwood’s class. We all picked to play
dodge ball. Our class was glad because that way we could got revenge from Thursday when we lost
to them. We did really well, we won the 1st, and the 2nd, I think, was the really exciting game. This
was because we only had 4 or 5 people in the game and then Sam tried and tried to make a basket
so all of the people that got out could come back in. Then, he finally made it and we won! It was
really fun too.
Then, the moment we were all waiting for, the winners of the good citizen award. This category
was for a responsible person. Our winners were……Sydney and Jared! Congratulations to both of
you!
Then, we got our report cards! There were so many people who got honor roll and high honor
roll. Mrs. Robinson said that she was impressed. And also, a lot of people who made the BUG club,
too.
Then, we had a carnival for our PBIS party. We went to all the classrooms, and we got a lot of
treats. We got candy, Trojan Treasures, and cookies. In our room we had Heads Up 7 Up. I guessed
and I got to go up and pick a person. It was really fun and you had to be really quiet or else they
might catch you. In the gym, we played cat and mouse with Ms. Florey. We got really tired from that,
and it was really exciting, too. In Ms. Hoffman’s class, we played a game with buckets and ping-
pong balls. You would have to throw it into a bucket and then, you would win a tootsie roll or a piece
of licorice. In Ms. Brown’s room, we had a cookie walk. She would draw a number out of a sack, and
then if you were on that number, you would win a cookie. In Mrs. Sill’s room, we played 4 corners.
She would play a song then stop it, roll a dice and whoever was in that corner was out. In Mrs.
Thompson’s room, there were Trojan Treasures all over the classroom. I got a lot of those, too. In
Mrs. Ekena’s room, we had a relay. We played with the toss game, when you toss a beanbag into a
hole on a wooden platform. Lastly, in Mrs. Underwoood’s room, we played toss the porcupine, while
a person in the middle would answer 5 questions. It was really fun going around and winning all
kinds of things.
Lastly, while we waited for the bell to ring, we played our favorite game, Quiet Ball. That is
another wonderful day in Mrs. Robinson’s class.

March 12, 2009- Luke
Hello my name is Luke and I am your Robinson Reporter today. I am here to
tell you about what we did today in class. First to start off our day, we
picked up a paragraph editing sheet, it is a sheet where we have to correct
a paragraph that was written wrong and it was about space camp. When we
were finished with that we went to morning meeting, here we share stories,
in the middle of someone's story Mrs. Clawson decided to join us for
morning meeting. She said she wanted to know what was on our math test
today, and that is what we did next. We did a math minute right before it
to refresh our minds for the math test. But we do math minutes everyday
not just before tests. Our math
test was on multiplying fractions and mixed numbers. I thought the math
test was easy! Then we graded a math paper from yesterday. We also did a
page in our math book on fractions, one question was really hard but Sam and
Alex found the answer because it was on the other page! Mrs. Robinson then
asked us to get out storyworks. Storyworks is kind of like a magazine with
reading stories for reading class, it also has a little grammar in it but
we don't do that. When we are finished with our storyworks we pass it on
to another class. We read a play called Maze Of Bones - The 39 Clues. We
had to write a narrative story from one characters point of view, but we
could make up some of it. When we finished with reading, we went to music
class with Mr. Powers. We are practicing singing our concert
pieces. After music we went to computer class. We each have partners that
we are working together with on a research project. My partner is Justin,
our topic is the Grand Canyon. Did I mention the project had to be about a
national park? Our class then did science, where we are learning about
molecules and atoms and all that other stuff. My favorite is the periodic
table, the names are so weird!!! We did a little worksheet on idioms which
was fun, then took a break and went to lunch! During lunch Mr. Powers
announced that the fund raiser for music class had arrived and we could
take it home today. Right after lunch, I mean right after lunch, we had
P.E. which was not a good because we had nachos for lunch!!! For P.E. we
are playing dodge ball, it is my favorite thing to play in P.E. All
classes play against each other in a tournament. The rest of the day was
pretty quiet with a study hall and a workbook page for word wisdom. Then
we packed up to go home and we got ready to do it all over again tomorrow

March 11, 2009-Maddie
Hi!!! My name is Maddie and I am once again Robinson Reporter, but this time for March 11, 2009.
Today I’m going to talk about Math, Reading, science, and more in the most fun way I can.
Today, Morning Meeting was a little wacky. First I told a story, which is true, to my class. My
grandma was taking me to town, and then we heard a big “POP!!!” Later we found out that we got a
flat tire when the road started getting all bumpy. But my grandpa came and let us use his car, and he
returned home a couple hours later. One of my friends told a pretty funny story. This morning her
mom was driving her to school and they stopped by the gas station to get some gas. When they were
just about to leave, a hobo came out of nowhere and my friends mom slammed on the brakes. The
hobos eyes widened and then he started walking down the lane my friend was going to go through,
but instead they took the long way. That’s all for Morning Meeting.
Math was pretty confusing, but I got the hang of it. Today in math we learned how to multiply
mixed numbers. The only thing that stinks about it is that I have a quiz over it tomorrow, but my
teacher said as long as we were living and breathing during the lesson, we would do fine. I’ll teach
you how to multiply mixed numbers right now. First you have to turn the mixed numbers into an
improper fraction. Next you multiply the improper fraction tot the regular fraction. If the numerator
is still bigger than the denominator, you divide the numerator by the denominator, and you might
want to simplify. For math, we are also playing a game called Contig, which is just a game is just a
game to improve our math skills.
This week for reading, we are reading a school magazine for kids called “Story Works”. We are
reading a section from a story in it called The 39 Clues. I liked how they put it in play formation. The
main characters are Grace, William, Dan, and Amy. I was only Narrator 4. I adore all the suspense in
the play. Suspense is when you get to a really good part in a book and you have to keep reading to
find out what’s going to happen next. We are reading a book called The Watson’s go to Birmingham
as a class and I think there is a lot of suspense in it. I just love this book.
Science was pretty awesome. I learned about atoms, molecules, and the periodic table. Did you
know that atoms make up molecules, which make up cells, which make organs that make the organ
system and that makes up you and me? A molecule is made up of 2 or more atoms joined together.
For example, water(H2O) is made up of molecules and so is carbon dioxide(CO2). Carbon is usually a
solid at room temp. A diamond is the most pure form of carbon; coal contains a lot of carbon, but
not as much as a diamond. Animals don’t contain a lot, but they contain some. That’s all for Science.
Grammar was pretty good and short. All we did was learn about irregular verbs. To make an
irregular verb, you must split everything into groups (infinitives, present, past, and past participles).
Past participles must start with have, had or has. For example,” Miranda had spoken before to him.
That’s all for grammar.
Social Studies was pretty exciting, but we didn’t do much. We are getting into slavery. I found
out that Fredrick Douglas was taken away from his mom when he was little. His mom came to visit 4
or 5 times at night before, but she was never caught. That’s all for Social Studies. Thank you for
reading my issue of Robinson Reporter for March 11, 2009.

March 10, 2009- Beau
Today when I walked in the room I took a paragraph editing sheet and walked to me desk. From
there I started my work. After that we all walked to morning meeting where we share stories one
story that came from Lindsey was about she had cut her self and she had to get a couple stitches.
Then she said she said she was really scared of knives. Then she showed us the stitches. I hope I
never get stitches because they look like they hurt then every body started telling stories of times
they had gotten some kind of nasty injuries. After that we walked up to the front table and got a
math minute it was kind of easy I missed one or two we get like four or five minutes. After that we
practice multiplying fractions they are easy for me but last year in fourth grade they were a little hard
for me but not this year they are not. Then after that we read our books and ate snack. I am reading
the Report Card it is a good book so far I just got it. Then it was time for music it was fun we sang
new song our music teacher is a blast. After that we went to computers it we are doing a project in
computers we have to pick a partner my partner is Jared we are doing a project on national parks we
are doing a national park in Hawaii. I would like to visit there some time it looks nice and warm
there. When we got back from that we zinged on to science we talked about matter and mass and
volume and it was fun! Then we went to lunch after that we went to P.E. there we played dodge ball
we won five to four. It was awesome it was also nail biting. We play tomorrow against Hoffman and
just like that we were going home.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
March 9, 2009- Collyn
To start the great day of March 9, 2009 we did math. In math we reviewed multiplying fractions, and
that was really easy! After we reviewed multiplying fractions we did a math worksheet where we had
to fill in this fake garden the right way by listening to the instructions. Unfortunately we had math
homework for today.
After we were done with math we moved straight onto reading. Today in reading we rehearsed the
play, 39 Clues, in our Storyworks. Storyworks is this type of kids magazine we get about every
month. Unfortunately, again, we had homework. We brought our snacks in so we could eat while we
read our books. I’m reading a book called Under a War-Torn Sky. It is a book about a 19 year old
that is an Air-Force pilot in World War two.
After the band kids went to band and I popped out Under a War-Torn Sky again. Once the band kids
got back we started science. Today in science we started learning about the properties of matter.
Luckily we haven’t got into the Periodic Table yet.
We moved on to fluency after we got done with science. In fluency I wrote about how Bob Saget
invented Mcdonalds. When we finished the fifteen minutes of fluency,
Mrs. Robinson said we weren’t going to grade them because we didn’t do so well.
We strolled to lunch after we were done with fluency. Today we had some type of chicken sandwich,
cinnamon apples, tater tots and milk. The chicken sandwich tasted better than it looked.
We cruised on up to the classroom after lunch for Mrs. Robinson to read to us. She reads a book
called The Watsons Go To Burmingham, It’s really funny.
We moved onto Social Studies after that. In social studies we took an open book test. It was really
easy. We didn’t do much but take our test in social studies.
In P.E we played probably the best game ever played. DODGE BALL!!! Wow dodge ball is fun! My
team’s name is the longhorns.
We ran back upstairs to do study hall. I got all my homework done so all I had to do was go home
and do this.

December 12, 2008- Anna
Hello my name is Anna Reischman, and I am the Robinson Reporter today. After our usual daily
routine of paragraph editing, pledge and Morning Meeting, we did our math minute. Then we did a
worksheet on variables, and we had time to work on a math workbook page. We did reading and then
we did a worksheet and went over it as well. We read A.R. and had Music, where we practiced our
play, which was fun because we always dance in Mr. Powers class. In Computer we did charts and
then had free time. Then we had Science. We read about instincts and learned behaviors and did a
little skit on animals, and read some more. Then we had Grammar and basically we talked about
compound verbs. We followed that with a worksheet. Then it was time for my best subject lunch! I
was cold lunch with a hot dog and then some cheese -its and some cookies. After that we had social
studies and read in our text book. In P.E. we skated. That was major cool, because I love skating.
Then we had more social studies and watched Charlie Brown. I liked it. Word Wisdom came next, and
we did a little in our workbook. Then we had study hall where I worked on my Robinson Reporter. I
like study hall. It helps if you dont want as much homework. We packed up it was a fun day and I
cant wait till Im Robinson Reporter again.

First we did what we usually do paragraph editing then morning meeting. Next we jumped right int
math first in math did a math minute thenwroe in our notes and graded our homework then we did
notes on equivilent expressions, problems in our and finally we played a game.
Next we flew into reading and we worked on our homwork then Mrs.Dulak came in and talked
about connections in books like text to self the last thing we did was do silent reading time. After
reading we worked on christmas storys then it was time for band.
After band we did science and in science we learned about inherited behaviors and learned
behaviers and we did a worksheet on it.After science we went to recess and I played kickball and for
lunch we had Sloppy Joe,pie, and milk.
After lunch Mrs. Robinson read from Walk Two Moons . Next we did Social Studies first we did
Daily Gogrophy and raed from our book.Next we flew into P.E. and we did roller skating and I fell a
little bit and sometimes it hurt. Next after P.E we had Word Wisdom and did pg.69 in our
workbook. After that we were almost done with the day and we did studie hall and I worked on my
Reading homework

December 9, 2008- Justin
Here are the things we did at school for the news on Tuesday December 9, 2008.
In math we learned about expressions. We also learned about the order of expressions. Here is an
example of an expression [11-8] +20.
Then we were going into reading. We read a book called Grandma Essies Covered Wagon. This
book
is a biography which means it is a non-fiction story about a person.
In music we sang our songs for the concert next week.
We had to do it from memory. I like this years concert, because it is fun music.
In computers we worked on our graphs. Our subject was our favorite holiday. I voted for my
birthday.
After computers, we did 2 things in science. First we did a work sheet. After that, we did an activity
about genetics.
Then we had lunch which was chicken patty on a bun. We also had milk. Todays lunch was very
good. Then in social studies we learned about the Constitutional Convention. The Constitutional
Convention included the Virginia Plan and the branches of our government. Our three branches are
Legislative, Executive, and Judicial.
Then in P.E. we went roller-skating. I fell a lot during roller skating. I thought it was fun.
Well thats the end of our segment and we will be right back after this commercial break.

December 8, 2008- Sam
When I woke up this morning, I had a feeling that today would be a cold, icy, and a long day. I just
knew that we would be late to school when the bus started at a slow and steady pace. Finally when
we got there we had to waste even more time because we had to wait for another bus that had
broken down to arrive with the other half of our class.
In reading we finally got out our dusty hard back books that had been in our lockers for over a
month. After filling the room with dust and spider webs we moved on to independent reading. Some
call it reading and some call it snack. I call it both.
So after snack reading we moved on to spelling. And it seemed like all we did was take our pretest
and have 10 minutes of free time to work on our home work. But as it comes closer to 11:00 people
start getting excited. Why, because 11:00 is known to be the time of band.
I have been telling you that band is at 11:00, and at 11:30 band ends and children begin to make the
tiring trip up the stairs with their instruments. I am not saying that going down the stairs is not hard
but some know that going up a hill is harder than going down and I am sad to say it is the same with
stairs too.
Following that, we did a sponge bob genetics sheet but we were interrupted by Mr. Robinson
coming in to finish the cup stacking tournament. Cup stacking is a weird sport but after a week of
practice I could say I developed some skill for this sport.
After that interruption, we started leaving for recess and after recess was over, kids rushed inside to
get into the warm building and go to lunch. For lunch we had. . . .what did we have? Well, we had
some kind of hot lunch, and of course some people had cold lunch and I can't remember more
details than that.
Anyway, after lunch we read aloud from "Walk two Moons", a mysterious book about a girl on a trip
telling her Grandparents about her friend Phoebe. I know it sounds weird but you really should try
this book out. It's pretty good.
On to Social Studies where we studied the Constitutional Convention. We are learning a lot about
our nation's government and the history behind it. It is actually very interesting, but maybe it's just
me.
Then we rushed down to P.E. which was really exciting today because it was our first day of skating!
I was glad to see that everyone had been skating before so they could all skate pretty well. At least
no one was a complete beginner. That would be embarrassing. It would have been a great way to
end the day, but unfortunately the day was not over yet.
Next we studied for our word wisdom test and it looks like most people in our class still need to do
a lot of studying and they had better get going if you ask me.
Finally it was time to go home. When I walked outside to get to the bus I was happy to see that no
one would be falling because all of the ice had melted. Home again to work on home work like the
Robinson Reporter and after that. . . .it's time for bed.

December 5, 2008- Alex
When I woke up for school I was ready for action of the day. It was T.G.I. F. [thank gosh its Friday. I
had to go to the babysitters. I do everyday. All I do is read or play my P.S.P.
When I got to school we read instead of doing paragraph editing. Im reading the Series of
Unfortunate Events. Theyre okay books theyre not the best in the world though. When we do
paragraph editing we get a paragraph that was typed on the computer and you have to correct the
mistakes. Mistakes like capitals, commas, periods, quotation marks, and etc.
Next we zoomed into math. We are learning about algebra. Some hard stuff some easy stuff. Kind of
mixed together you know. The stuff isnt so bad once you get used to it. Stuff like a + 147 = 278 is
a
mix of hard or easy. Every now and then youll get easy stuff like 6 + a =17.
We were missing a whole bunch of kids on the limo lunch that we just played games. One game was
a math game where you had to get a decimal card go to the front of the room and place yourself in
order greatest to least. If someone gets a card and they go and stand behind you then you get a
point and have to sit back down. But, you dont want points in this game. The next game we played
was called spelling baseball. You split into two teams and stand in the front to spell words and you
get on base. For a single you spell an old spelling word. For a double its this weeks spelling
word.
For a triple its a future spelling word. Last a home run is a word from the dictionary.
Later we had P.E. were doing speed stacking. You stack cups up into pyramids. Sometimes we race
its fun to race. Im not very good. I guess its just not my sport.
Soon it was the end of the day I was going to the babysitters. Alex Giese reporting good night.

December 3, 2008-Alexa
Hello, Im Alexa and this is my report. In this report I will tell you about what I did today at school. I
hope you enjoy it!
The first thing that we did was our paragraph editing. Its talking about the Golden Gate
Bridge,
like what structures it uses and what people call it.
Next, after we said the Pledge Of Allegiance, we went to do our usual morning meeting. At this
morning meeting, Luke said that over the weekend he went to his cousins house, and his cousin
found these toy boxing gloves. He and his cousin were going to box with them. Then his cousins
8th
grade friend came over, and Luke beat him at boxing. Now theyre going to put it on YouTube.com,
and the title will be 4th grader beats 8th grader in boxing match. When Luke said that everyone
started laughing hahaha".
Now its time for math. First, we did a math minute, and I didnt miss any. It was really easy,
so
I hope the teacher grades that one. Then, we did a review page on the distributive property. After
that, we did some easy variable sheets. It was in a group, and my partners were Anna, Sam and Alex.
Then, we went into reading. We did a group paper on getting to know Maxwell in the story
"Maxwells Fabulous T-shirts". My partners were Anna and Jared. Then, the reading teacher, Mrs.
Dulak, came in to teach us about guide words. It was a fun group project and my partners were
Jared, Anna and Sam.
We now have to zoom into independent reading. I got a new book called "The Incredible
Journey". It is about a Bull Terrier, a Cocker Spaniel, and a Siamese cat. So far it is a good book.
After reading today, the people went straight to band, but I went to Mrs.Underwoods room. I
went there because I dont do band, so I just have to read my A.R. book more. I like reading, so
its
fun.
Now its time for Science. Today, in science we did the easiest thing you could imagine. It was
punnett squares. The word may make it sound difficult but once you understand it, it is really easy.
Tomorrow, were having a quiz, but I think it will be easy.
Time for Grammar! Today in Grammar we talked about compound subjects. It was pretty easy.
We got a worksheet, but I finished it. My teacher said that we needed to clear our desks off, so we
could play preposition bingo! I was happy. I even won once!
Lunchtime! Today at lunch, the lunch ladies were serving fish sandwiches. It wasnt the best,
but
I was hungry so I ate some of it.
After lunch, my teacher always reads. She read two of the best chapters so far! The book is
called "Walk Two Moons", and it is really good. Mrs. Robinson, our teacher, said it was one of her
favorites.
While Mrs. Robinson reads, we have to do daily geography. This time on daily geography we
were doing questions on a map of Canada. I forgot what it was called. I didnt miss anything.
We headed to P.E. next. In P.E. we did speed stacking. Speed stacking is where you stack cups
really fast. Its really fun too.
After P.E, we graded our paragraphs. On mine I missed four, I think. Good thing she didnt
grade
them!
Now, its time to check into Word Wisdom. Word Wisdom is pretty simple. First, we say our
vocabulary words. Second, sometimes we do a practice worksheet. Lastly, Mrs. Robinson may give us
an assignment or she may not. Thats pretty much it.
Well, next is the last step of the day. Its study hall. I got some of my homework done, but not
all of it.
It was nice talking to you! Thanks for reading my report. I hoped you enjoyed it!

December 1, 2008-Payton
Brrrr! It snowed last night. I was hoping for a snow day, but no luck. Maybe next time. I didn't even
get to play out in the snow, mom said " It's way too cold."
Our day started with math. We took notes on communative property and associative property.
When we were finished with our notes we did a worksheet on each of the properties that we took
notes on.
Next we moved on to Reading. We worked on a worksheet and we were going to read our story,
"Maxwell's Fabulous Tee Shirts", but we ran out of time.
Spelling followed Reading. We took our pre-test. The spelling words seem hard for me this time. I
will have to study hard for this test.
Today in Science we talked about inherited, dominant, and recessive traits. We finished off Science
with instant lab. We did an experiment with a penny to see how many dominant and recessive traits
there were.
Finally it was time for recess and lunch. I played basketball during recess. It was fun! I love
basketball. I was really hungry at lunch. We had tacos, rice, applesauce, and milk.
When we came in from lunch it was time for daily geography. We answered questions about a
physical map of Canada. While we worked on our maps, Mrs. Robinson read to us from the book
"Walk Two Moons."
Next, we went to P.E. We watched a movie about speed stacking. Mr. Robinson hurt his ankle over
the weekend. He sure needs to be careful. I hope he feels better soon.
Our day was almost over, but first we took a pre-test on Word Wisdom. Another test that I will
have to study really hard on to get a good grade.
Last was studyhall. Thank goodness I was able to get most of my homework finished. We have
basketball four out of five nights this week. Five games in four days between me and my brothers. It
looks like I will be doing alot of homework in gyms this week.
It was a fun but busy day. I hope it snows again soon! I love snow. See you next time. Oh, happy
birthday to my brother, Nole.

November 25, 2008-Sydney
On November 25th, I was Robinson Reporter. At the beginning of
the day, we did our language sheet like we do every morning.
After language, we did our homework count. When that was done,
we did lunch count and Alex called off our names. Beau led us
for the Pledge of Allegiance. Then we had Morning Meeting,
after which we did our math minute sheet. After we did the
math minute, we did three math sheets with our group and my
group is Tyler, Alysa, and me, of course. Just
when we were about to check the sheet we had done, the overhead
light bulb blew out. Once Mrs. Wilkey fixed it, the room
smelled like smoke.
After the usual was done, we did our storyworks and we're
reading Cidro-ella. It's another version of Cinderella. Well,
after all of that was over, we had music. We found out the
parts for the Christmas Concert; Tyler is Snowy Zoey, Lindsey
is Mrs. Claus, and Ethan is singing Santa's Job is a Snap.
After music, we had computers, and instead of doing Ultrakey,
we did a story. After that, we did Grammar, and it was so
fun! Then we had lunch, and it was our Thanksgiving Feast!
Then Mrs. Robinson read Walk Two Moons. After that, we started
to do our final copy of the essays that we did.
Then, we went to P.E., and lost to Mrs. Florey's class in
Matball. After that, we all left. Tonight we get to cheer at
the 5th grade basketball game!!
See ya' next time!

November 24, 2008-Kira
Today in Mrs. Robinsons class we started off b doing our paragraph editing. By the time
everyone was done, they all looked tired because of course, its Monday. Everyone is usually tired
on
Mondays because it is the first day of early rising.
Next, we had morning meeting. We mainly shared about some camping stories that made us
laugh a little, and also about all kinds of sports.
Shortly after that, we did our Math Minute. This was our 62nd Math Minute of the year. This
sheet was pretty simple. It was over before you could say Thanksgiving dinner. Also in Math, we took
some notes on Functions and did a work sheet with our group. I really like Functions. I think they are
cool, yet fun.
After Math, we went right to reading. In reading we read a play out of our Storyworks. Its called
Cidro-ella, kind of like Cinderella, but in present time and about a boy. I got to play the
stepmother. It was a really cool story.
Then, we had Silent Reading Time. I am reading a book called The Miserable Mill. I really like the
Series of Unfortunate Events. While we were reading, I read 2 and a half chapters in my book, while
eating peanut butter and jelly crackers.
After that, we got to do an Art project. We all made turkeys for Thanksgiving and put what we
were thankful for on the feathers. I had 3 full hands of things to be thankful for.
Before we knew it, it was time for Band. I play the Drum with 4 other people. I forgot my
Drumsticks, so I had to switch with some people. We got to play all the way to number 35 in our
books. I thought we did really well for our first time learning a couple of new notes. I know we will all
improve.
When we got back from Band, we went right to Science. We did a little review on DNA, genes,
and chromosomes. Then, we got to make a dog out of DNA traits. All we had to so was pick a piece
of paper out of an envelope and what ever pattern it was went to a certain picture. We all had some
pretty crazy dogs there. It was very interesting to see all the shapes of the dogs.
We then went to lunch. At recess I played a trust game with some of my friends. It was really
funny. Then, we got to go inside first because we had P.E before everyone else. For lunch, I ate hot
lunch, which was grilled cheese, chicken noodle soup, and fantastic strawberries. They were so
sweet; I just loved them.
Right after lunch, we had P.E. In P.E we played matball. It was a tournament, so we played Mrs.
Underwoods class. It was a really close game. The score was 5 to 4, us. We were really happy when
we won.
When we got back to class, Mrs. Robinson read two chapters in Walk Two Moons. The chapters
were called Flinching and The Marriage Bed.
Then, we looked at our essays that all of us wrote. My partner was Alysa, and we both had to
look at the essay for errors. It was a pretty easy job. It also turned out that we wanted to go to the
same place, Paris. Once we were done, it was time for Study Hall. And all we had for homework was
a reading sheet and math sheet, that were both easy. I felt really good about myself because I
dont
have any homework for tonight.
That is what happened in another exciting day in Mrs. Robinsons class.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, everyone!!

November 21, 2008- Luke
Hello, my name is Luke, and I am the Robinson Reporter today. I am here to tell you about the day of
Friday, November 21, 2008. Now, on Friday's, we don't do much. Pretty much all we do is take tests,
have snack, take tests, have lunch, take tests, have P.E., take tests, have Friday Frenzy, and leave.
Kind of boring, am I right? Well, there was a little more than that today.
First, we did math. All we did in math was do 2 worksheets on patterns. They were EASY!!!!!! Well, to
me at least. Then, we did reading. We read our story about Indian kids having to go to Carlslile. It is
a boarding school. Then, of course, we had a test. I told you thats about all we do, but we do have
some more coming up. Next, we did spelling. Spelling was fun because we got to play spelling
baseball. Spelling baseball is a game that helps us learn our spelling words and have fun at the same
time. Now, that's a cool game. I would tell you how to play spelling baseball, but I didn't really know
how to play either, at the time. I just went for the home run every time and ran the bases. My team
won. And if you really want to know how to play, just ask your kid if they are in this class, or if they
were in Miss Brown's room last year. Then, we had ANOTHER test! After the test was over, we went to
computer lab. We did Study Island. Study Island is an ISAT prep website. I actually think its kind of
fun. Next, we had band. It is my 4th favorite subject. We got to play the base drum today. Only the
drummers got to though. After band, A.K.A. my 4th favorite subject, we went back to reading. We
read our story again, except this time, we did it in play form. We all got to pick a part and act it out.
It was fun, and it also helped me understand the story better. Then, it was my 2nd favorite time of
the day, lunch time. I was cold lunch because, well, this might sound a little bit weird, but I was cold
lunch, because I dont like spaghetti. Now, dont freak out because I dont like spaghetti; I was
just
born with weird taste buds. Anyway, after that, we read a story together in class. We always read one
after lunch. Right now we are reading Walk to Moons. It is hilarious!!!! Next, we got to get a partner,
and help them grade their essays that they did a couple days ago. My partner was Beau. It was fun.
Then, believe it or not, we even had a test in P.E.!!! Weird, huh? Then it was my favorite time of the
day, Friday Frenzy!!! It is just like a 30 minute recess. It is awsome!!!
So, thats what I did on Friday, November 21, 2008. See you next time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
November 20, 2008- Maddie
Hi! My name is Maddie and I am the Robinson Reporter for 11-20-08. I am going to tell you all
about this day at Maroa-Forsyth Intermediate School. As you all now, it started out as any other day.
The day started out with Morning Meeting. I think Ethan told the funniest story. He told a story that
happened at his house last night and it started like this. Ethan was chasing his little brother around
the house with an exercise ball while his mom was on the laptop. Next thing he knows, his little
brother was trying to climb over the couch in the living room. When Ethans little brother was at the
top of the couch, Ethan threw the exercise ball at him and BAM! Ethans little brother was
knocked
right off the couch.
After Morning Meeting, we did math. First we started off with some Algebra, Yippee! We did
increasing patterns, decreasing patterns, and constant change patterns. An increasing pattern is like
when you add or multiply a number over and over again. A decreasing pattern is when you subtract
or divide over and over again in a pattern.
Reading made me kind of sad because it was a bad time in history for the Native Americans. The
story is called The School at the Edge of the Earth. The time period was from 1879-1918 and the
main idea is Many Indian children were sent to an Indian boarding school. The boarding school
was called Carlisle and a man named Captain Pratt started the school. That is mainly what we did
for reading.
Next we started A.R. and we read for about 10 minutes. A.R. stand for accelerated reader and it
challenged kids to read more and you get points from it. Right now I am reading A year Down
Yonder and it is a sequel to A Long Way from Chicago. A Year Down Yonder is about a
girl
whose parents are going through a hard time, so she has to stay at her grandmas house.
After A.R., my class went to music which is taught by the one, the only, MR.POWERS!!!!! Mr.
Powers
is a teacher who loves to have fun, and he brings out the party in music. My favorite song we sing is
called The Auto Commercial. We are going to sing it for our up-coming concert.
When we got back from music, we did science and boy was it weird. We learned about mitosis which
is the process of a cell dividing. Did you know that chromosomes are made up of DNA which is made
up of genes? Now you know. Think about how many chromosomes are in your body, and there are
even more DNA, and more genes!
This is what I mainly did today in class. My class also won a speedball tournament. That is
something else I did in class. Thank you for reading my Robinson Reporter.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
November 19, 2008- Ethan
Well, unfortunetly, Im todays Robinson Reporter, so as usual, I have to report the day.
The day started off when my class and I did everything we normally do, except today something
came called the Physics Van. Since it was going to mess up the time, we had fluency writing in the
morning! When the time came to 9:00, we had to head to the presentation.
There was a crowd of 4th and 5th graders on the bleachers before the presentation began. Once
everyone was calmed down, it started. The three college friends (the people that called themselves
the Physics Van) did a lot with liquid nitrogen. They froze a racqucet ball, threw it on the ground,
and it shattered! They also did a little bit with electricity, like showing how it flows, but thats about
all.
We sped into the classroom and recited our poems we wrote last week. I wrote my poem about snow,
which was an easy topic because you can say a lot about snow. We then started our reading, and we
did this thing in our Storyworks. Storyworks is a magizine that comes every month. Once completed,
we read for 30 minutes.
We then burst through the door to band.
Band was fun because the 2 band classes morphed into1, and we practiced for the concert. The band
room was a bit crowded with 44 kids with instruments in one band room.
We came back to the classroom to do science. We took a mitosis quiz, and after, we made graphs on
inherited traits for an earlier project. I hope I did well on my quiz.
Lunch and recess were the same as always, boring. But the surprise came when we found out that
right after lunch, we were going to play speedball against Mrs. Hoffmans class. We
won, by a lot.
My class hiked up the stairs, and we did the same old Daily Geography. Then the teacher read out of
a book called Walk Two Moons. We also worked on an essay on where would we like to go in the
world. I choose Arizona.
Todays Robinson Reporter wasnt so bad, I guess.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
November 18, 2008- Collyn
I started Tuesday November 18, 2008 with exciting things. First, we pumped up our brain with math.
In math we did two algebra worksheets in class. The first was matching patterns, that was easy. Next
was the second worksheet, that was just as easy as the first worksheet!!! For math homework today
we had worksheet fifteen. It was exactly like the second worksheet we did, except it had different
problems!
Next, we had character education with Miss Poland. In that lesson we got into groups talked about
respect. After we got done discussing about respect, Miss Poland handed out papers about respect.
After that, Mrs. Dulak came in and talked to us about inferring with poems. Throughout Mrs.
Dulaks
speech I wondered if I was going to get a hard poem or easy poem. It turned out it was a fairly easy
poem. Beau, Alex, and I figured out it was a tongue.
I got to read a little bit of my book, Harry Potter and The Order Of The Poenix, after Mrs. Dulaks
lesson in reading.
After that we strolled to music. In music we practiced our Christmas concert which we are going to
perform for you on December 16, 2008. (For more information look at your school calendar.)
We cruised back upstairs to computer lab. In computer lab we did Ultra key, an online keyboard
tutor, and we also did Study Island. When we got done with computers, I walked back to the lockers
to get my science book. Then I came back into the classroom to do science. In science we had an
inherited worksheet for homework.
I finished my science homework in five minutes, and right after that I had to take my helping verb
test. I passed it! I left the classroom to get my jacket and stocking cap on. When I got that stuff on, I
grabbed my lunch ticket and ran to lunch, at recess I talked to a couple of my friends. After recess
we lined up to get our lunch. Today, we had cheese pizza and salad. Yummy! Yummy!
I ran back to the classroom to get an early start on our daily geography. I finished the two questions
and started to listen to Mrs. Robinson reading Walk Two Moons. Weve only gotten to the fourth
chapter, and it is already an awesome book!
After reading two chapters, we started grading an ISAT essay from a random person in Illinois. We
all go to give it our own grade. So Mrs. Robinson was going to tell us the real grade after P.E.
When we got done with that, we had our class speedball tournament. In our speedball game today,
we best Miss Floreys class, 15-7.
After P.E., I went back up to the classroom to hear what the real grade for the ISAT essay. It turns
out it was a B-.
At the end of the day, we had study hall. In study hall I finished my math worksheet, so all I had to
do was finish this at home.

November 17, 2008- Beau
When I got to school I went to the gym. I sat there with my friends and we talked then the bell rang
for me to go to class. When I got to class, I got my paragraph editing which was a little bit hard.
When we were done we said the pledge then we traveled to the back of the room and everybody
shared. There were some pretty interesting stories like always. After that, we did math minute and
after we graded it. Then we zoomed onto math. We had to take a algebra pretest. I don't think I did
good it was the hardest pretest I have ever taken. I am just kidding around, the pretest was not that
bad. I thought it was going to be really really hard, but I thought it was mediam but that is me after
that I went to reading class. It is fun there. I got to eat a starburst for getting the word of the week
after that I went to band., That is always awesome. I play the trompet. I love the note G it is
awesome sounding. After that we did science. We made mitosis flip books. Then we went to lunch
it was ok. Then we started a new book. Then my favorite subject P.E.! We are playing speedball.
Then we packed up and came home.

November 14, 2008- Emily
This morning at school we did the same thing we do everyday. We worked on paragraph editing and
had morning meeting. We skipped math minute and took our math test. It was hard but we got to
use a calculator so that made it a little easier. We didn't get time to read because the math test was
really long. In my spare time I read my A.R. book after the test. Next, we went to the computer lab.
We did study island. I did not do so well. It was boring in computer lab. The rest of the class went to
band after computer class while some of us went to Mrs. Underwood's classroom to read. I read my
A.R. book. After band class was over we illustrated our poems. I wrote about art. I drew a picture of
two paintbrushes with paint, crayon, and a marker. The clock his 12:30pm and it was time for lunch.
I had cold lunch today. I ate a ham sandwich, cookies, chips, and drank a juice box. After lunch we
came back to read Dear Mr. Henshaw. We finished the book and then it was time for word wisdom.
We had to take a test on it. Next, we went to P.E. where we played speed ball. I did not like the game.
After speedball we passed out our Friday folders. Finally, we went to Friday Frenzie and played in the
gym this time. After Friday Frenzie it was time to go home for the weekend.

November 13, 2008- Anna
Hello! My name is Anna Reischman. I am todays (November 13, 2008) Robinsons Reporter.
Today in math we did some practice math and took math notes. Then we strolled into reading, where
we started writing poems. Mine was about my feelings about the thought of the word small.
Then
we read A.R My book is Ella Enchanted. Its cool.
After that we had music. We practiced Santas Rockin Christmas Eve. Then we read Dear
Mr.Henshaw and rolled into computer. We finished our project, and then we had free choice. Later,
we did language. We sang a helping verb song and presented it to Mrs. Underwoods class. That
was
fun! We maneuvered into a little grammar, taking notes on how not isnt a verb and got a
worksheet.
After lunch, we had social studies. We did daily geography, and Mrs. Robinson read to us. After
that, we had fluency writing on what ever we wanted to write. We had P.E., and we played speedball.
Then we did Word Wisdom. That was cool. We did a page in our book. Finally, my favorite part of the
day was study hall, where we worked on homework. Thats all, and thanks for reading my report!

November 11, 2008- Lindsey
Hooray! Today is Veterans Day. Veterans are the solders that died or fought in battle, or helped the
army. Ms. Flory had her grandpa come in her class he was a veterans during1950-1954. Thru the
Korean war. He was in the navy, he said there was bombs they put in the ground that had a button
and if someone stepped on it it exploded. The reason I know this is Mrs. Flory let all 5th grade come
see him to.
In computer class we talked about the tome of the unknown solders. Last year I got to go to
Washington DC and see it. They dont know to this day who they were because the records got lost.
At the very end of the day Mrs. Robinsons class got to see an assembly on Veterans Day. Kids
from 6th, 7th, &8th class gave a speech. My dad is a history teacher so I got to know about it.
Veterans Day means a lot to me. And that is what happened to day.

November 10, 2008- Makomborero
Today I am the Robinson Reporter. My name is Makomborero and today is Monday November 10,
2008. The Robinson Reporter is the person that is supposed to write down what happens at school.
The first subject is math we did a really long review so we could prepare test. While we went to the
bathroom she changed it to a different date because there was algebra in our test and we havent
done that before so she moved it a couple weeks forward so we would have a chance to do algebra
and learn it. We also got a math worksheet. Also we have done 54 math minutes that is a whole lot. I
was really glad she changed the date because I forgot to study during the week.
Today in reading we had a really big test. It wasnt a test you could prepare for. The book I was
reading for A.R time was Wayside School Gets Weirder. It is a really great book. Also it is kind of
funny.
For Language we had to write a big essay about Veterans Day about what I think about it. She says it
at least has to be three paragraphs. I think essays are really hard. After that we went to band for
band I play the saxophone it is a kind of hard instrument. Band is also pretty fun. There are only to
saxophones in our class Justin and I. It is pretty fun playing the saxophone. For lunch we had French
toast. The story our teacher read to us was Dear Mr. Henshaw. It is a really good book.
For Social Studies we had a worksheet. We also have a test soon and it is not open book like last time
open book makes test easier and the last time we did open book I got a really good grade.
For P.E we played Speedball it combines Soccer, Basketball, and Football. Speedball is a really fun
sport. We play a lot then after awhile we get to face other classes.
Our last subject of the day was word wisdom. We had a pretest of all the words we are doing this
week. We also read a story in out word wisdom book it was about a great Mathematician who wanted
to create a new math theory but soon he got very ill and the disease caused him to thin bad thoughts
and make him hear things his wife took to the hospital to try to make him recover he didnt recover
fully but he was better. He soon won the Nobel Prize for his Math theory. That is all we did today I
had a great time telling you what I did at school.

November 7, 2008- Tyler
TGIF!!!!!!
It is Friday, November 7, and this is Tyler DB, your Robinson reporter. Heres what happened today.
The sun keeps rising later every day, but I still want to stay in bed even later because the weather
forecast was right: it was only in the fortys and breezy. BRRR!!!
The day started off with our usual activities, such as Math Minute, and paragraph editing. Next, we
worked on our math. We did a review worksheet. It was a refresher to help us remember what math
we had learned the previous day.
Then we hopped into Reading. We read Dear Mr. Henshaw, the short story, and then took a quiz.
The quiz was pretty easy. It was ten questions and 6 of them were on vocabulary. After the quiz, we
all ripped out our books for AR and read like crazy. I am reading The Ersatz Elevator, by Lemony
Snicket. Its an awesome book, number six, in a fantastic series of books! There are 13 of them, and
Im gonna read em all!
Next we skipped into the Computer Lab and worked on Study Island. This is a program that helps
prepare us for the ISAT. This year the ISAT tests subjects that fifth graders all must take include
reading, math, and science. The ISATs are a long way off still, but it is a good idea to get us ready
soon. I hope our class does great.
Spelling came next and we had our weekly test. I think I got a 100%, not including the bonus words,
which I think I also got correct. Band followed, but I forgot my flute at home. (Mental note to me:
REMEMBER MY INSTRUMENT!!!!) We continued working on the notes. The flute practiced the G-note.
Afterwards we moved along to Science, not really one of my favorite subjects. We read about zygotes
and gametes, parts of the reproductive system. Oh, and I almost forgot that we made posters of two
animals in Science, as well. I guess I was thinking about lunch, because my stomach was growling
like crazy during Science!
After lunch, we slogged on to Daily Geography (DG), where we get maps and answer two questions
about them. While we were doing our maps, Mrs. Robinson read a part of Dear Mr. Henshaw, the full
story, to us. We all like her to read to us.
Social Studies came next. Here we did a worksheet about John P. Jones, George R. Clark, and Mary L.
Hays. It was pretty easy because we had our textbook to help us.
Finally, it was time for PE, one of my favorite parts of the day! We played Speedball. Tied, 7-7. Fair
game, and a lot of fun. And guess what? I got a touchdown. So did lots of other students, but I was
excited that I did, too. And also, sadly enough, Colin accidentally kicked the ball . . . right into my
face!
The finale of our day, and our week, was Friday Frenzy, where all the kids from the Intermediate
School are allowed to go out to play on the school grounds. Everyone has so much fun. We get to
burn some extra energy, be out in the fresh air, and unwind from a long week of hard work in
school. Not a bad way to start our weekend!
This is Tyler DB, reporting on TGIF day for the Robinson Reporter.

November 5, 2008- Justin
Wednesday November 5 was just like any other day, except it wasnt. The
first question I asked my dad when I got out of bed was who won the
presidential election. Dad replied, Barack Obama. I ate my breakfast, got
dressed, grabbed my saxophone and headed outside to wait for the bus. I
raked leaves until the bus came. When I got to school I wondered what we
were going to do.
In math we studied mental math and percent of numbers. In percent of numbers
we learned how to do tips. I thought percent of numbers was the hardest.
Next we went over reading. In reading we read Dear Mr. Henshaw. We
also learned how to use the index of a book. Dear Mr. Henshaw is written by
Beverly Clearly.
After reading we cruised over to language arts. We learned how to do
an essay organizer. The topic for our essay organizer is where you would go
in the world and why. I would go to Hawaii even though I have already been
there.
Once that was done, we went to band. I play the saxophone. My
favorite song in the book is Mary Had a Little Lamb.
After band we moved to science and finished our life cycle projects.
My group did the butterfly life cycle. The other life cycle was the frog life
cycle.
When we finished Science, we studied Grammar. Todays topic in
Grammar was infinitive verbs. For example I want to walk. An infinitive
verb is a verb after to.
Before lunch we went outside for recess. We just walked around. For
lunch we had soup, grilled cheese, fruit, and milk. I thought the grilled
cheese was the best at lunch.
After lunch we did social studies. In social studies we learned about
the end of the American Revolution. One of the most important battles of the
war was the Battle at Saratoga. It was important because it told the
Continental Army that they could win the war.
Finally we went to PE. During PE we played Speedball. Speedball is
a mix of basketball, football and soccer. The final score of the game was 8
8.
Today was a great day and Im looking forward to tomorrow. We have
our first 5th grade basketball game which is exciting.
_____________________________________________________________________________
November 4, 2008- Sam
When I got on the bus this morning I could tell it was going to be an
exciting day. Everyone was
talking about the election. Today is the day that will decide who the next
president of the United
States of America will be and that is pretty cool. We still don't know the
results of the voting because
right now people are still voting so they haven't counted all the votes yet,
but we will know soon.
When I got to school we had a morning meeting which was pretty much normal.
But most people
were excited about. . . . .you guessed it. . . .the election!
Of course school had to go on like normal, so in math we took our quizzes.
Hopefully everyone
understood the math and got a good grade.
Next it was reading time and we listened to Dear Mr. Henshaw on tape. It is
about a kid who writes
letters to an author named Mr. Henshaw. Following that we read our A.R.
books. I am reading the
second book in the Series of Unfortunate events. It is a pretty unfortunate
story about some orphans
and their miserable lives.
Music came next and we practiced the songs for our concert which is coming up
soon. Our concert
will be very fun Christmas performance and I think all the families will
really like it. The songs are
great and Mr. Powers is really fun.
Finally it was the time we had all been waiting for. Election time! We got
to have our kids election
and John McCain was the winner. I think that most kids voted the same as
their parents will vote.
On the other hand, you never know. But if that is true and if the votes were
only counted in Maroa
and Forsyth then John McCain would be the winner and Barack Obama would be
the loser. By the
time anyone reads this the whole country will know who our next president
is. Meanwhile, I'll tell
you about the rest of our day.
Regardless of our excitement about the election, we still had to go to
science and learn about the life
cycles of the frogs and butterflies. We made posters on the life cycles of
these animals.
Next it was off to lunch and of course for some of us, it is our favorite
time of day. It must not have
been too exciting because I can't even remember what we had. We had milk and
bread.. . . . . .but
that is about all I can tell you.
After Lunch the day is almost over but we spend some time reading Dear Mr.
Henshaw out loud. We
all like that story but the funny thing is, that in reading we are reading
the short version of the book
and in read aloud we are reading the long version. It is kind of strange.
On to social studies where we are learning about how the American colonies
finally gained
independence from Great Britain but as we read the last paragraph we were
interrupted but a loud
buzzing sound which we all recognized as the FIRE ALARM!!! Mrs. Robinson
guided us outside and
luckily it was only a drill. No real fires today.
Next was our short, 20 minute P.E. class where we played speed ball, I guess
you don't need much
time to play speed ball because it's so speedy, but we all wished we could
have played longer.
When we finished P.E. it was time for Word Wisdom where we are learning words
that are pretty hard.
It looks like its time for people to study!
Finally, it was study hall and another day at school was over. We all went
home where our parents
would be watching the news to find out who the next President of the United
States of America will
be!
This Robinson Reporter was brought to you by Sam Clawson

November 3, 2008- Alex
When I woke up I was ready for school. I got up to go to the babysitters as
usual I have to get up
really early. I went into my brothers room threw a stuffed animal at him and
yelled, Get up. Then
we went to the babysitters so yeah good morning eh?
When I got to school though we did our usual stuff. Math minute,
pledge, and paragraph editing.
The easy stuff like that. Im sure you know about all that though.
Next, we took math notes on percents, decimals, and fractions. Then,
we had a group thing. You
had to find the best baseball team. Not real baseball but the baseball teams
that were made up on
the sheet. We know what real baseball team is the best the CUBS. Last we got
our homework page
147.
Soon after that we zoomed into reading. Our story this week is called
Dear Mr. Henshaw. After
that it was independent reading time. Im reading Harry Potter and the
Deathly Hollows.
Wow, we flew through that and into science. We had a group thing all
about inhertiting traits.
Were learning about something new we dont know yet.
Later we jumped into social studies. Were learning all about the
American Revolution. We got a
worksheet to that too. The worksheet was easy I think.
Last but not least we had our word wisdom pretest. We didnt have an
assignment. Our words
this week are all about thinking.
That was a good day reporting Alex Giese.

October 30, 2008- Alexa
Hi! My names Alexa and this is my report on what I did at school on Thursday,
October 30, 2008.
You may have read my other one because this is my second one. Of course, I
hope you like this one
better.
As usual my day at school always starts out with paragraph editing. The
paragraph story we were
reading about was How to Build a Sand Castle. In this one there was a lot
of capitalizations and also
a lot of periods needed to be put in.
Now hurry up and get out of your car, its time for morning meeting! The first
thing my teacher does
at the beginning of a morning meeting is her annual speech; Good morning
and we say Good
morning. Then we can raise our hands and tell Mrs. Robinson, and the class
about anything at any
time in any place. Today I talked about how I had a dream that three stray
cats were living in my
back driveway. Or it least I think it was three. Anyway, how can you be to
sure about a dream?
Now its time to blast into what we call a math minuet. On every math minuet
theres always a
number on top representing how many weve done, maybe its one or two off
considering if a student
has been absent or not. Well guess how high the number is? Do you have your
number yet? Well
dont read past this line if you dont, oh and I like good guesses so dont
be guessing one hundred
million! Okay ready? The number is.47! Can you believe it? Forty-seven math
minutes have been
past out! On this one I missed one because I wasnt paying attention. Oh well
mistakes happen you
know.
Wow! That paragraph was long! Ill try not to make this one as long; I mean I
dont want to hold you
up to long! This paragraph will sort of combine with that long one up there
but I made it separate
anyway. Its math. Just plain math. This math was turning percents to
decimals and decimals to
percents. It was really super-D-dupery easy! Then after we wrote some notes
down we played a
game called concentration game. Or as some of you call it, a matching game!
Hooray! This matching
game was on what we just learned which is percents and decimals. We had to
find the card that was
equal to its percent or decimal it just depended on what you drew. My partner
was Payton Huffman,
my BFF. We played two games. I won both but the second one we settled through
an even matched
best two out of three rock- paper-siscers contest. On both rounds Payton was
really close to beating
me. After the game our teacher gave us an assignment that had to be finished
that day. Which that
was no problem because I think everyone finished before math was over.
OH MY GOODNESS, THAT PARAGRAPH WAS GYNORMOUS!!!!!! Hopefully this paragraph
will be tons
shorter. This paragraph should be shorter because it is about these little
books that we do almost
every Thursday. My partner was Alex Giese. We read a book about this boy
named Raoul and his dad.
They go to a model train convention where theres a robbery and Raoul helps
the detectives find the
robber. It was called The Great Model Train Robbery. I finished my
assignment, which was to
answer the five questions at the end of the book.
Finally a decent sized paragraph! Hopefully this will be another one. It is
independent reading time.
Hooray! I had just finished a book the day before this one and then got
another book I didnt really
like. Then I switched it and got a book called Out of the Dust I just
started it but its a pretty good
book.
Music time, my favorite subject! My teacher, Mr. Powers, is trying to find
some Christmas music that
could be really fun because he said he didnt like Christmas music that much.
Then Mr. Powers found
this cool musical on Christmas and I think its called Santa rock or something
like that. Its set up like
50s music and its really cool!
Right after music we always head straight to computers. This time in computer
class we were making
these cards so we could vote on witch president we wanted to have. It was
either John McCain or
Barack Obama, and of course it didnt count in the real world but we were
doing a vote with the
whole school. I will vote for Obama.
Next, at light speed, we will go straight into Science! Science was fun today
because we were
finishing a project. The project was to make a poster to convince the class
to buy hydroponic lettuce.
I had two partners but the rest of the class had one, not counting
themselves. My partners were
Payton Huffman, and Colton Staley. Its always good to have an extra brain on
the team!
Today we did something a little different. We read a Time For Kids magazine!
This Time for Kids
magazine was about how lunch prices for schools are rising. We didnt read
all of the pages; we only
read the one about the food prices. Our teacher said that we would read some
more tomorrow.
LUNCH TIME! That means where more than halfway through the day! I also get to
eat! Today we were
eating the one the only.chili!!! Hooray! It also came with a cinnamon roll!
Yum! Cinnamony
goodness with every Bite!
After we filled our tummies we went straight to P.E. We usually go at 1:40
but today we went right
after lunch. We did this because we were having a soccer tournament. We were
playing against Mrs.
Underwoods class. We lost, but it was great going to P.E. right after lunch!
After P.E Mrs. Robinson, the greatest 5th grade teacher ever, finished a
great book called A Week in
the Woods. Its worth 7 points! I havent taken a test on it yet but I hope
I can tomorrow.
Social Studies came next. I didnt have to do anything because I use a
homework pass. Thank you
sweet homework pass!
Now, the last thing at school, study hall. I got all my homework done.
However, I still came out of
school way after the bell ringed. Oh Well.

October 29, 2008- Alysa
Hi, my name is Alysa Ashby and Im Robinson repoter for the day of Tuesday
October 28, 2008. In the morning we had morning meeting and a lot of people
had something to share.
First subject was Math. For math we had a Math Minute. I missed two
problems. Next we graded a math sheet named Ratio and Percents and I missed 1
extra credit and I missed 1 that was not extra credit. Then we had a
Percent/Ratio quiz. At first it was had, but then it was really easy. The
quiz had 10 questions. Then we had a restroom break.
Next subject was Reading. We are reading a story called John Henry.
Its a really long story, but a very good. We also had to do a fact/nonfact
worksheet while listening to the story. There was a lot more nonfacts then
facts. Then we got put in groups and we went through our facts and nonfacts.
It was simple. My group was Kira, Justin, makombo, and I. Then we shared our
facts nonfacts with the class. Then we had silent reading time. First I had
to catch up since I was sick and missed school so I took my word wisdom test
and my reading quiz. Then I read my book called The Last Holiday Concert. I
didnt finish the chapter I was started, but I got close.
Language was next. We wrote a paragraph together on the overhead and it
was about favorite subject and we picked computer class.
We had band next. Im not in band so I went to Mrs. Underwoods classroom
to read silent. I finished a chapter.
Science was next. We read a science spin. It was about farms of the
future. We got put with parterners. We had to start a poster about hydroponic
and its based on a grocery store.
After that we had recess and as usual I just played with friends. When we
went inside for recess we had lunch. For lunch we had chocolate cake,
pepperoni pizza, fruit, and milk. After lunch we read a book called a week in
the woods. The chapter we read was called found. While Mrs. Robinson read to
us we did our daily geography. The chapter was about Mr. Maxwell finding Mark.
Next was fall festival. We won the red day contest for no drugs. For the
fall festival I was in the group the rotten pumpkin. The fall festival was
really fun, so many games and a good snack. Before we left to go home we
played quiet ball. I did not win, but I did good.
_____________________________________________________________________________
October 28, 2008- Payton
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! It was cold today. I could see my breath outside while I
was getting in the car. It is
red ribbon week and we all wore red to school in honor of that today. I hope
our class wins the
contest so we can get a prize.
Math was first for us today. We reviewed percent "per hundred" and went over
ratio and percent. We
did a math riddle about an embarrased skunk. Have you ever heard of "John
Henry?" We are reading
a story about him in reading. It is a Tall Tale. I think it is a good story
and would suggest reading it
to other kids. The Streets of Loredo, where are the streets of Loredo and
what does that mean? In
music today we did a play about that song to help us understand what it was
about. It is about a
cowboy who dies in a gunfight, isn't that sad? Next we went on to computers.
With the Presidential
election coming up next week we are working on a project about he candidates.
John McCain and
Barack Obama are running for president. I won't tell you who I would vote
for, it's a secret. In Science
we are learning about germination and we also watched a Bill Nye video about
the life cycle of an
animal. I love Bill Nye the Science Guy. Did you know there is an oject of
the preposition? It is a noun
at the end of the prepositional phrase. If you didn't already know, we are
learning about prepositions
in Language. Recess was next, I walked around with my friends, but it was
still pretty cold and
breezy. I ate a pizza lunchable, go-gurt, a crunch bar and a Kool aid for
lunch. We played Miss
Hoffman's class in the soccer tournament in P.E. They beat us but we will get
them next time.
It was a fun filled day of learning in fifth grade. I know that it will be a
fun week. I know it's cold, but
try not to miss the football game vs. Warrensburg this Saturday to support
the Trojans.

October 27, 2008-Sydney
On Monday, October 27, 2008 I was the Robinson Reporter. My mom brought me
to school because
she was helping with lunch tickets. I no sooner sat down in the gym when the
bell rang. When we got
into the classroom, we turned in our Friday folders and our report card
envelopes (my report card
was great). As we did homework count, we did a language sheet. After that, we
did lunch count, and
I got hot lunch as usual. (chicken nuggets was what we were having for
lunch). Then, we said the
Pledge of Allegiance. (Emily led us). I get to sit on the couch this week for
morning meeting, which is
after the Pledge. Then, we did our math minute and checked it. After that, we
took some math notes,
we learned about percentages. After that, we did our weekly vocabulary. Then,
we did our
independent reading. I am reading a book called The Fledgling. After that,
Mrs. Robinson
announced that Ms. Gaffrons last day would be today, so we all made her
cards. Then, we had band.
In the morning, I realized that I forgot my trumpet, so my dad brought it.
After band we gave our
cards to Ms. Gaffron. Then we did science, and we learned about reproductive
plants. After that, we
took our spelling pre-test. Finally, it was time for recess! It was
FREEZING!! Then, we went to the
middle school to have lunch. Those chicken nuggets were good. After lunch,
that we did our daily
geography while Mrs. Robinson read A Week in the Woods, and we are getting
to a good part in the
book! There is a boy named Mark, and he just moved. Now he is spending a 10
days in the woods
with the whole 5th grade. He got in trouble, so he was supposed to wait.
Instead, he ran off into the
woods, and now he is lost. After we did geography and checked it, we did
social studies. When we
where finished with social studies, we went to P.E. turns out this week we
are playing tournaments
with all the fifth grade classes. We played Ms. Floreys class and the score
was 4-0 and we won.
Robinsons class ROCKS!! After P.E., we checked our language sheet that we
did in the morning.
Then, we wrapped up social studies. Thenit was close to the end of the day,
so we filled out our
assignment notebooks and had study hall. Soon, the buses came, the bell rang,
and everybody left.
That was my Monday!!!

October 24, 2008-Kira
Today in Mrs. Robinsons class we started off by doing paragraph editing. It
was a very short page that didnt take very long to finish.
Next, Mrs. Robinson called for our homework. Everyone had all three of
our assignments done. So then, we got to fly our flag.
Soon after that, we all went to the back of the room and had Morning
Meeting. Today we mainly talked about basketball. Alexa and Payton said that
they both had a basketball game tomorrow, and Luke said that he had his first
practice tomorrow.
After Morning Meeting, we went back to our seats and did our Math Minute.
It was also our 43rd Math Minute. This one was a little hard. I think it was
because of all of the division. It went on and on with division. It was
CRAZY! Then, in math we took some notes on fractions and how to change them
into decimals. Then we played Math Bingo! The winner of the long game was
Payton Huffman.
Right when that was done, we jumped into Reading. We read our story which
is called Digging up the Past. Then, we took our open book test. It was a
very quick and easy test.
After the quiz, we had silent reading time. I read one and about a half
chapters in my book. Then, for my snack I had peanut butter Ritz crackers.
They just hit the spot!
We then went to computer lab. We had planned to check our grades, but the
web site didnt work. So then, we all went on different links that Mrs.
Robinson said we could go on. I went to National Geographic for Kids. It was
really cool to learn about crazy animals.
When we got to the class, we took our Word Wisdom quiz. It didnt take mi
cery long to finish because I really studied. And that really paid off.
Then in Band, we played all the way to up to number 16 in our books. I,
for one, thought that we did great! We were all on the same beat, and it
sounded really smooth.
When we were done with our great Band class, we went right to Science. We
looked at our experiment with the celery, it really changed. It was really
easy to tell that the red food coloring had went right up right through it.
Then, we drew a picture of a tree and what all the parts do and what they
make.
Then before we knew it, it was time for lunch. At lunch Recess I played
hop scotch with all of my friends. My feet started to get tired after a
while. When it was time to leave recess, we were the first class to go
inside. So for a reward, we got a class Trojan Treasure. To eat I had a
chicken sandwich, fries, and my favorite chocolate pudding.
Then after lunch, we took our lesson one quiz in Science. Mrs. Robinson
made the test, and it was only ten questions long. For me, it wasnt too hard
and it wasnt too easy. So it was just right.
After the test, we did our daily geography while Mrs. Robinson read a
chapter in The Week in the Woods. It was a very interesting chapter, too.
All of a sudden, our speaker came on and said the winners of the week,
and the only people in our class that won something were Payton, and Colton,
who both got a Homework Pass.
Later, in P.E. we played soccer. My team, the Mocha Monkeys won against
the Kicking Nannys.
After the exciting game, we calmed down and did Friday Folders, we had a
lot of papers to put away in our folder. A very important thing went in our
folder, which was our report card.
After we were all packed up, we went outside for Friday Frenzy. I played
hop scotch once again, but with a lot more of my friends and we all had a
blast.
Thats what happened on another exciting day in Mrs. Robinsons
classroom.

October 23, 2008- Luke
Hello, my name is Luke and I am the Robinson reporter today. I will tell you
all about the day of 10-
23-08.
First, when I got to school this morning I knew it was going to be a
great day. I knew this because
when I woke up, I felt GREAT! I don't know why, but I just did. When we
walked into the room we had
to do a paragraph editing sheet. It was about beavers. Then, Mrs. Robinson
called us up to the front
of the room to pick up a book order. A book order is kind of like a magazine
with lots of books and
cool toys that the kids can order. Then, we flew into math. Today, to start
math we did a math
minute. It was number 42. That means that we have done 41 of them already!!!
That's a lot of math
minutes!!! Next, we graded some math worksheets that we did the other day.
After we graded that,
we practiced some problems on our write-on, wipe-off boards. By the way, we
are learning about
ratios in math.
Then, we did reading. Today we read our story called "Digging Up the Past".
It is about digging up
artifacts from Jamestown, Virginia. Before we knew it, it was time for music
and computer lab.
Nothing much happened in those two things, but they were FUN!!!
Then, we had science. I knew that science was going to be fun today because
first of all, it is my
favorite subject, AND we were doing an experiment today!!! It is my dream day
in science!!! The
experiment that we were doing today was when you put a flower in a vase with
colored water in it,
that the flower will turn that color. It worked.
Next, it was lunch time. Today was sloppy joe day, but I don't really like
sloppy joe so I was salad
bar today. After lunch, I had to do daily geography. We didn't get to do it
yesterday so we had to do 2
days worth of it. It might sound like a lot, but its really not.
Then, we had P.E. In P.E. we are playing soccer. Our team is 3-1 so that
means that we have only lost
1 game!!! Our team is tied for first place!!! When we got back from P.E. we
did a vote for the quarter.
This quarter we had to vote for the kindest person in our class. Then, the
rest of the day was study
hall. We packed up, put our chairs up, got on the busses to go home, and got
ready to do all of this
over again.

October 22, 2008- Maddie
Robinson Reporter
Hello, my name is Maddie and I am Robinson Reporter for Wednesday, October
22. Today started out
like any other day. I got ready for school, and then got on the bus. I sat
with my friend Marissa.
At Morning Meeting, we all said hello to our teacher. Next we told stories,
all kinds of them. One boy
in my class told a story, and it was about great, great, great, grandma. One
day she was outside
beating a rug, and three rattlesnakes fell out.
In math, we learned about ratios, and the name sounds confusing, but its
really easy. To make it
sound simpler, it just means to compare numbers. There are three ways to
write a ratio, and one way
is to write it like a fraction.
Today my teachers baby got really sick, so she had to go home. Everybody was
so sad that she had
to leave, but we got a really great substitute. He explained everything so
well.
In reading, we read a story called Digging up the Past. It is about
archeologists who rediscover
Jamestown. The fort was named after King James the 1st .The archeologists
found toys, armor,
candles, and many other things at the fort.
When it was time for language, we learned about prepositional phrases, and
its actually kind of fun.
After that we played preposition bingo. Almost everybody got a bingo, and I
had a bingo, but I
forgot to call it out!
Band was so much fun! I play the flute, and so do 3 other of my friends.
Today we were graded on
how good we played together. I think my group could play a little better if
we just practice more. My
band teacher is Mr. Hardain, and he is so funny! Im lucky to have a teacher
like him.
Social Studies was pretty fun. We learned about the Declaration of
Independence and the American
Revolution. I found out that Americans get our tea drinking from Britain.
Once there was a man
named Thomas Paine and he wasnt even considered a man in Britain, so he came
to the 13 colonies
to make a new life. When he arrived, he got some land and became and a
publisher. I also found out
that George Washington was once on the Britain Army.
Close to the end of the day, my school had a party for P.B.I.S. Everybody got
to eat a whole lot of
ice-cream. Next we played board games, and then the real fun started. We got
to play mat-ball
against a 4th grade class and we won 6-3. It was an amazing day. Thanks for
reading my Robinson
Reporter!

October 21, 2008- Ethan
Another day, and were doing our morning correcting. After we finished,
Mrs. Robinson called us back for morning meeting. I shared that my family and
I are
moving into a new house.
Next, we started math with our daily math minute. After we corrected it, we
got a worksheet on
fractions. For me, I dont like fractions, so I tried to finish quickly. Ill
be glad when we move on to a
different math study.
We moved on to reading and we now have a new story. We had to fill out a word
list for homework
on our vocabulary words. Before we read for 30 minutes, I got called to read
in the back. The back
contains a couch, beanbags, and a separate chair.
We walked down the hall to music and computers. In music, we learned how to
waltz. We also got to
sing some new songs too. Computers was a blast when my class and I got to do
an election project.
We had to tell seven facts on the running candidates.
Back in the classroom, we had science and fluency writing. We started a new
chapter on plants in
science. Fluency had me exited because I wrote a story on car racing. Im
still trying to think of a
title.
The fifth graders went out for recess and I wish I wouldve brought a
jacket. Lunch was same as
always, yummy.
We got to the classroom with a new sheet of daily geography. While we worked,
Mrs. Robinson read a
chapter from a book A Week in the Woods.
In P.E., we played soccer and lost. Although we lost, we still had fun
playing the game.
We came back to the classroom exhausted and started our Word Wisdom. We had a
page as
homework, but I finished it.
As the day came to an end I thought, another day, another A!

October 20, 2008- Collyn
We started the off October 20, 2008 with adding and subtracting
decimals. It was fairly easy but
some questions were hard. I got stumped on a few of them. After we got done
with math we
practiced our Storyworks play, by the way Storyworks is a magazine we get
every couple of weeks
and there is usually a play inside of it. So we practiced our play and then
we performed it to Mrs.
Thompsons fourth graders. In the play I was the introducer and I was part of
the Raven Chorus.
After that we had to get ready all over again to do the play for Mrs.
Underwoods fifth graders.
We did our play for them and did it all over again for Miss Floreys fifth
graders. When that play was
over it was time for Band. I dont do band so I just took my book and went to
Mrs. Underwoods
class to read. Im reading a book called Boy. It is an autobiography about
Roald Dahl. When Band was
over they came back and we did our play again for Miss Browns class. We got
done with that and did
it again for Miss Hoffmans class and this time we had our P.E teacher the
one the only Mr. Robinson
as a special guest and also we had Mrs. DulaK as a special guest. After that
we did our play for the
last time!!!
We went out to recess after that. I didnt do much. After that we
cruised to lunch and I had a
peanut butter and jelly sandwich, chips, and a Gatorade. We came back and we
did our daily
geography. Then I changed shoes and went to P.E. We played soccer. When P.E
was over we corrected
our paragraphs. After all that we had study hall for the day. So thats what
happened to me and my
classmates on the day of Monday, October 20, 2008.

October 16, 2008- Emily
This morning at school we did the usual things, Morning Meeting, paragraph
editing and math minute. During math we graded our math homework from
yesterday. Mrs. Robinson taught us to turn mixed numbers into fractions. It
looked hard. After that we took a bathroom break and went right into
reading. We practiced our play, "The Tell Tale Heart" I play the old mans
heart with a few other people. I have to go to Mrs. Dulacs class during
silent reading times. I don't have reading classes with the rest of the
class. After Mrs. Dulacs class two other people and myself cruised into
music with Mr. Powers. The whole class played a game with musicla notes. If
you clap and count the notes right, you got to try to throw a chalk board
eraser into the trash can, if you got it in you got a point. We played the
girls versus the boys, the girls won. Computer lab is next. I went to ultra
key and passed a level. The science test was next. It was very hard, but I
was ready for it. Science ends at 12:30, then it was lunch time. I was hot
lunch, I had salsberry steak and mashed potatoes and milk. I sat by Anna and
Sydney at the table. We went right into English after that. Usually we
read, but since we have a test we did that instead. It was easy. All you
had to do was cross out the prepasitional phrase, then underline the subject
and the verb. We then went to P.E. after that and we played soccer, it was
boring. I'd rather do math than to go to P.E. Then we had study hall. I
didn't have any home work so I read. Fifteen minutes later we shot out the
door to go home. It was a fun day. I loved being the Robinson Reporter
today.
_____________________________________________________________________________
October 15, 2008- Anna
Hello! My name is Anna, and I am the Robinson Reporter for today. I will tell
you what we did on
October 15, 2008. In math, we played one of my favorite math games -- I
Have, Who Has. It was
so much fun! We played it with fractions. Also in math, we did a worksheet
with partners and took
notes on comparing fractions. Then we did another worksheet about the
information we took notes
on. It really helped me understand the concepts.
Soon after math, we did reading. We practiced our play. My role is that of a
raven. Practice was
awesome. We also did some Accelerated Reading. Its nice to read every day.
Then we glided into
language. We talked about what makes good paragraphs, and we made paragraphs,
ourselves. Then
we went to band well, people who are in band went -- and we learned new
notes. That was major
cool! Next, we strolled into science, and we graded our science study guides.
We did some more
language, again with partners, and edited our paragraphs.
After lunch, we moved to social studies. Mrs. Robinson read aloud from the
book A Week in the
Woods. It was fun. Then we graded our daily geography. We went to P.E and
played soccer. I got hit
in the eye, but I am OK. After P.E., we came back to class and watched Johnny
Tremain. Then we had
study hall, where we worked hard and studied. Finally, we packed up to go
home. That was it for the
day. Thanks for reading my report!

October 14, 2008- Lindsey
Hi! Todays reporter is Me, Lindsey Austin!!!!! Ive been waiting to be
reporter since the start of
school!
It seemed the most exiting thing today was we got to start a movie called
Johnny Tremain. It is
about a boy that lived in 1773. During the time King George was being
annoying. If America hadnt
put its foot down, King Gorge would have driven us dead poor. Then he would
have no one to steal
money from. I bet even the Democrats back then thought he was a pain in the
rear end when it
came to taxing. I think King George had MAJOR problems with being greedy.
Then the most exiting, awesome, thing our class did was in P.E. We played a
game called four goal
soccer I think well Im not sure about the name, but I know you need four
goals, four teams, and
two soccer balls. Each team tries to kick it into all goals except there own.
Each ball in a goal is one
point. Whoever has the least points, wins!! My team did not win. But green
team only got 1-point.
GO GREEN!!!
Last but not least, in reading there was a play made by Edger Allen Poe. Each
kid got a part. These
were the main charters: narrator (Sam), old man (Justin), three policemen
(Tyler, Alexa, and Luke).
The crows are, Alex, Makombo, and Jared. The rest is the heart and crows
chorus. Edger Allen Poe
reminds me of Halloween and poems so I tried to write my own. Its not so
good.
If something outside you know is dead
And says I Want my head
When trees will turn bright urging and red
And zombies just dead ahead
If mummies will give you a scare
Then youll know in the fall air
That witches and ghosts are killing the light
Then youll know its Halloween night!
I know it isnt Edger Allen Poe-ish but hey, Im only ten years old! And he
is now like200! Well that
is what happened in class today.

October 9, 2008-Makombo
Today I am the Robinson Reporter. I am supposed to write about what happened
at school. Today is
Thursday and the first subject to start the day was math. We learned about
how to simplify fractions
using factor trees. Then our teacher introduced us to mixed numbers and how
to turn them into
fractions. At first I thought it was really hard then it became easier.
We had to create a cool script for word wisdom. This was for an interview on
a sports radio show.
Someone had to be the sports star and the other had to be the host. It was
really fun. Then we did
our radio shows before music and it took till accelerated reading time. Then
we did the show. We
have our word wisdom test after lunch.
The book I am reading for accelerated reading time is The Raven Masters
Secret and On My Honor.
Also for A.R time I got skittles for getting 40 points. My A.R goal is 22
points.
For music we played a fun game. Here is how you play. It was a game that a
band would come and
you would tell them what song to play but they didn't have a sheet of music.
They would just have to
play it. Except we did that with different kinds of rhythms.
After music we had computers. For computers we had to write about a new sport.
For grammar we wrote in our fluency notebooks. I wrote about presidents that
I know about like
Teddy Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, and George Washington. I wrote 218 words in
15 minutes.
We had choice between ham sandwich and salad bar for lunch. I had salad bar.
We played football
during recess. Also during lunch we talked about what we are going to wear
for late night basketball.
The game we played for P.E was mat ball. We played against Mrs. Underwoods
class. It was really
fun.
Then we had Friday Frenzy. It was the best part of the day. We played
kickball. That was a really fun
day and I had a great time.

October 8, 2008-Tyler
Hi. This is Tyler, and today Im the Robinson Reporter. My job is to report
all the class activities for Wednesday, October 8, 2008.
Today started out like any other day. We recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
Then we moved on to our normal morning meeting. Here we basically tell each
other what we did the night before. After that, we did normal morning
activities, such as correcting a small slip for Language, and Math Minute,
which are 10 math questions to build up our math knowledge.
Our day began for real after that, as we whisked into Math, our first subject
of the day. I think Math is probably my favorite subject (or at least one of
them). We took math notes on equivalent fractions. Did you know that 1
divided by 5 is equal to the fraction of 1/5?
After studying a little more Math, we zipped into Reading. We read the story
Science Fair Creatures Attack (and its [mostly] not my fault). The story is
about two friends, one who needs a pencil and borrows it from the other. As
he reaches into her backpack to get the pencil, he gets bitten by what he
THINKS is a Chihuahua. To his surprise, he discovers he was really bitten by
a rat!
During Reading, while my classmates were reading their AR books, I took and
AR Test. Got a 100%! YAY, ME! Unfortunately, Im still .05 points off my
quarter AR goal. That really stinks for me, but I know Im going to reach my
goal in time. No problem.
Later on in the day we did Language Arts. We did a formula for paragraphs.
The formula is: topic sentence, supporting sentence, detail sentence. Then
you may need more supporting and detail sentences to complete your idea. To
close the paragraph, you must have a concluding sentence. This sentence helps
you completely and utterly end the paragraph.
After Language, we rushed into Band. Today we learned our first notes on our
newly chosen instruments. But heres another unfortunate thing --- my
instrument is getting repaired, so I didnt have it today. I probably wont
have it for another week. Other classmates did not have their instruments
yet, either. Everyone who had an instrument seemed to have a lot of fun.
Then came Science, another one of my favorite subjects in class. We read more
about Kingdom Animalia (the scientific term for Animals). Then we reviewed
our King Phillip Can Order Five Giant Ships. This stands for Kingdom, Phylum,
Class, Order, Family, Genus, and Species. This is the ways scientists
classify all living things. While everyone else was waiting for Mrs. Robinson
to dismiss us to lunch, I cleaned my desk. Trust me, if you would have looked
in to my desk before I cleaned it out, it looked like a tornado had blown
through (and then five more behind the first!). Afterwards, its very neat
and tidy.
This brings us to lunch, everyone favorite part of the day, because it starts
with recess. Lunch was beef and cheese melt with milk, very yummy in our
tummies. Then we headed back to the classroom for study hall, where we get to
work on our homework for about thirty minutes before we hop to P.E.
P.E. brought a game of Keep Away, with four teams of six players. Mr.
Robinson has his own special way of Keep Away. There are no rules, except no
hitting, kicking or tackling each other. We all got hot and sweaty, and had a
blast. Sadly, P.E. ended too soon, and we trudged back to class to finish
study hall.
Finally, the bell rang, and everybody raced to lockers and then the busses.
So ended another busy, hard working but fun day in Mrs. Robinsons Fifth
Grade Class. So long from Tyler Balke, Robinson Reporter for Wednesday,
October 8, 2008.
______________________________________________________________________________
October 7, 2008-Jared
Today we started with what we usually do with editing paragraphs and morning
meeting. After that we did math. In math we did a math minute then went over
our homework. We took a quiz on Least Common Multiples.
Then after math we went to Miss Florey's class and looked at their cell
projects. They were all good.
After that we had music and we took a test and sang songs, except I didn't
sing. Then we went to computers and we did a mad lib.
Next we flew into a fun day of science because we did an experiment with life
savors and pasta wheels and wrote in our notes. The life savors were mmmm
good.
Then we did Language and we did prepositional phrases and played preposition-
O .
Then we did Recess and I played lightning. Then we ate lunch and I had a BBQ
rib sandwich and green beans and milk.
After lunch we did daily geography and Mrs. Robinson read out of "A Week in
the Woods".
Then we did social Studies and we read out of our Social Studies book. Next
we did word wisdom and we did a worksheet. After that we had study hall and I
worked on homework. Finally school was over.
After school I went to band night and got a trombone.
______________________________________________________________________________
October 6, 2008-Justin
When we all got to school that day we were wondering want we were
going to do.
As usual we started to do are paragraph editing. This weeks title is Foreign
Exchange. The paragraph
editing helps us with punctuation and capitalization. Right after morning
meeting we started with
our math minute. When we were done we graded our math minute I missed one
question wrong.
Math minute has random questions from math.
Then we started math and today we learned about fractions. We first
learned about basic
fractions like a half. Afterwards we learned about how to simplflying
fractions. Then Mrs. Robinsin
teaches us about converting fractions into decimals.
During reading we took out our storyworks and look at page nineteen
of the Science Creatures.
We made up a story from page nineteen of The Science Fair Disaster. I thought
everyones was great.
Also in reading we shared the rest of the family pictures and
stories. We stared our pictures and
stories on Wednesday. I also thought every one did great.
At band we did the drums if they wanted to. We all did rhythms in our
band class. I said to Jared
do you like band.
When we got back from band we did science. In science we learn about
classifying animals. We
also learned in science is the five kingdoms.
When we got out for recess we played kickball. When it was my turn to
bat I hit a fly ball and I
was out. It was still fun anyways.
For lunch we had biscuits and gravy. Todays food was very good. This
was probably the best
lunch at school ever.
When we got back from lunch we did our weekly geography. One of the
question were want was
north of the U.S and south of the U.S. I missed one question.
While we were doing the weekly geography Mrs. Robinsin was reading
the Week in the Woods.
The Week in the Woods is a great book in my opinion. The next time you go to
a bookstore you
should get this book.
Today in social studies we learn about the stamp act. The stamp act
was a tax for newspapers
and legal documents. The stamp act made the colonist very mad.
When we did P.E we did soccer and learned how to dribble. We also
learned about how to pass
the soccer.
Next after P.E we did our Word Wisdom pre-test. Our subject in Word Wisdom
right now is
movement part 2. On my pre-test I missed 6!
After we did the pre-test we read in our Word Wisdom. The story in
Word Wisdom is horse
racing. Did you know that hourse racing is one of the oldest sports.
Thats want we did to day

October 3, 2008-Sam
This is Sam Clawson reporting for the Robinson Reporter. Im glad I get to
report on a Friday, my favorite day of the week . . . . In the school week
that is. To be an accurate reporter I would have to say that Saturday is my
favorite day of the week, with Sunday coming in second.
It was another fun Friday is Mrs. Robinsons class today. The class started
out with everyone checking out each others hats. It was hat day at Maroa-
Forsyth Intermediate School which means that any student that brought a
donation for Jared could wear a hat to school. It was a fundraiser for Jared
who has been really sick and needs our support. Hopefully he got a lot of
money donated, and hat day was really fun for everyone.
On the other hand, the excitement died down when we started Math. Of course,
we checked our quizzes and checked our homework which was about least common
multiples. To finish it off we wrote our Math notes.
Next Mrs. Robinson walked us to computer class where we worked on our Dear
Me letters. Meanwhile who really knows what Mrs. Robinson does? She could
be anywhere. She did come back to get us, so she couldnt go too far.
Following Computers we went to band. Everyone is excited to pick out their
instruments and today we practiced the final instrument we are trying out and
that is drums. Of course lots of people liked the drums and it was a very
loud band practice.
Then it was time for Science where we studied the characteristics of shoes in
groups. With all those shoes off our feet, the classroom did get pretty
stinky. Regardless, it was a great group activity.
Finally recess and lunch, everyones favorite part of the day! After lunch,
we did some new desk arrangements then quickly skipped to sharing our family
pictures. Next was P .E. where we played flag football and everyone was
really excited for the day to end. Following that we went out to Friday
frenzy and it seemed like a lot more people came out this week than last
week. Looks like 5th graders are getting their homework turned in on time.
Overall today was a great Friday. It may have been noisy in band, mysterious
during Computers, (where does Mrs. Robinson go?), and stinky in science, but
those things arent always bad when you are in the 5th grade and lets face
it; if our Friday ends in a frenzy, its all good.
______________________________________________________________________________
October 1, 2008-Alex
Today I woke up for school ready, refreshed, and full of knowledge. When I
got to school we did what we normally do. Then we took a math time test.
After that we went over our math homework. Were learning about factors.
Next, we got our math homework for the day.
Next, we flew into language and we wrote a paragraph about a girl named Dolly
who got polio. Not Dolly Parton. This week in our Storyworks we read a story
about her. She got polio when she was younger and her family stayed by her
side the whole time she had the dreadful disease.
Right after that we jumped into science. We had a test and everyone was
nervous. I think we all did well because most people were done pretty quick
and thought it was easy. The test was over cells, tissues, systems, and
organs.
Soon after that it was social studies time. Were learning about the House of
Burgesses. The House of Burgesses is place where people met for the
colonists government. The colonists wanted freedom from king George the
third but king George wouldnt have it.
At the end of the day we did word wisdom. We had an assignment and it wasnt
bad. Our words this week were all about running and stuff like that. They
were pretty easy.
We had a great day at school. I think you should ask your child about that
dayoh, and how they did on that science test.

September 30, 2008- Alexa
Hello! My name is Alexa and this is my report. In this report I will
tell you about all that I did on my day as Robinson Reporter. By the way, my
day was Tuesday, September 30th, 2008. Well, I am not going to hold you back
and keep you from hearing my report. So, go on and read.
First, we did paragraph editing. It was about a guy who was a slave.
He was freed and trying to find a way to make money. They were very poor.
Next, we did a morning meeting. It was mostly about Halloween. We
talked about what decorations people got and what they did. Morning meetings
are pretty short so that is why Im ending this paragraph now.
The third thing we did was math minute. When we were grading it I got
to do a math problem. Then we zoomed into math. We actually used our math
books for the first time ever! We worked on the greatest common factor. It
was a bit complicated, but I got used to it. Once, Mrs. Robinson gave
us a big number, and it was hard! She did not grade it though.
Moving on to reading. We read a story called, What Happened To
Dolly? It was about Polio. It told about what it was and how it affected
humans a long time ago. A girl named Dolly had polio in the story.
Now that we are done with reading its time to burst into independent
reading. Independent reading is where you read an A.R. book for 30 minutes.
I didnt have an A.R. book because I had just taken a test. So, I was
looking for one. In my opinion, there are no good books. All the good ones
I have already read.
Going into music. It was the best day ever! Mr. Powers came back
after a long substitution. He made things funny. Everyone laughed out loud,
even Mr. Powers! It was really fun.
Soaring into a different subject, we are heading into computers. We
worked with our partners on the Branches of Government project we are doing.
My partner was Payton.
Next we had science. We were reviewing for a test. We also graded
our science review. I missed one.
Anyway, time for prepositional phrases. I just memorized all the
prepositions on our list. Im sure you dont want to hear them, considering
there are 53 of them. After prepositions its prepositional phrases. Im
not a big fan of this subject.
You know how Ive told you about a lot of things, and it didnt take
you long to read it. Well, in real life 3 to 4 hours have gone by, and I was
getting pretty hungry!
Now that we are done with that, its time to get back to my day. It was
lunchtime, and we had turkey roast. It was mmm.mmm. good!
When we got back from lunch, it was time for our teacher to read a
chapter in a book. The book was called A Week in the Woods. Todays chapter
was called Spoiled. While we were listening to Mrs. Robinson read, we also
did daily geography.
Then at 1:40 it was time for P.E. We played a type of football game
since we were working on football. Once that was done, we graded our
paragraph editing. I missed 2 on my paper. When that was over, we did Word
Wisdom. In case you are wondering, what in the world is Word Wisdom? Well,
its just like grammar. Our words that we are using this week are on
movement. For example: marathon.
We are actually going back to prepositional phrases. There is not
much to write because all we did is finish one question.
Finally, we had study hall. All we did was math for homework. Well,
that was my report and I hoped you liked it.

September 29, 2008- Payton
The dark clouds were rolling in this morning when I woke up. Weatherman Greg
Trumbold said "Cooler weather is on the way." I'm ready for cooler weather,
how about you?
We started our day with
morning meeting. Everyone had a chance to share about their weekend. I
shared what happened to
Nole when he was mowing the yard and his mower blew up while he was driving
it. WOW!
The first subject we did was math. We took time tests, some notes, and
learned about the greatest
common factor. We learned how to make factor trees. Once that was done, we
moved on to reading.
In the middle of our reading test, the power went out. Mrs. Robinson read two
chapters from "A
Week in the Woods". We also played Heads Up Seven-Up.
Can you hear the beat of the drum? You could in band today. We are learning
to play the drums.
When that was over, we had Language. The preposition test was from A-W, and
the power came back
on. Recess was next, followed by Lunch. I had a turkey sandwich, chips, a
brownie and a Power-ade
to drink. When lunch was over, it was time to grade our reading tests.
During Science we got ready for our science test. We reviewed chapter 1.
After science was P.E. We
played flag football. The game ended in a tie. Finally, it was time for
studyhall where I tried to get
most of my homework done.
It was a full day of learning in Mrs. Robinson's class today. We were even
able to learn with the
distraction of the power going out. What an interesting day.....I wonder what
tomorrow will bring?

September 26, 2008- Sydney
On Friday, September 26th, I was the Robinson Reporter. It was Homecoming
day, so everyone wore
blue and gold. All four of the schools were like a sea of blue and gold. When
we first started the day,
we did homework count and everyone brought in their homework,so we got five
marbles.Then,we
finished up our Social Studie's presentations. Makombo,Wesley,Jared,Emily,
and Colton were
left. Then we said the plegde of Allegiance, and after that we did morning
meeting.
After the usual was done,we took our math test, and we had an hour to do it!
Then,we took our
Tornadoe's vocab. quiz. After, we talked about Friday Folders and took our
spelling test. So after that
we had Band. Next, we went outside for an extra recess for being good this
week, and we got it for
15 minutes. I played basketball with Mrs. Robinson.
After that, we went to lunch, and we had either pizza burger or cheeseburger.
I got the cheeseburger.
After lunch, we played quiet ball, all you do is throw the ball to whoever is
is standing. Then we went
to the High School for the assembly. At the assembly the football players
danced with the
cheerleaders, and it was so funny. After school, I took the bus home and then
came back to go to
the parade. I got SO MUCH candy and saw alot of people I knew. I also saw
Mrs. Robinson at the
parade with Korah. It was an awesome Friday!!

September 25, 2008- Alysa
Hi, my name is Alysa and I am Robinson Reporter for the day of
September 25, 2008. In the
morning we did the same thing morning meeting and the pledge. At morning
meeting a lot of
people had something to share.
In math we did math minute. Then we did math notes, and it was review
for Quarter 1 midterm
test. Then we did a multiplication timed test. I did not do so well. After
that we practiced math
extended response. It was easier than I thought. After our bathroom break, we
continued math. We
looked at somebodys extended response from somewhere in the state of
Illinois.
Next was reading. We kind of went over Tornadoes, our story for this
week. For reading
homework we had a true or false worksheet. So easy! Next our class had silent
reading time, and I
finished my book Stuart Little by E.B.White while I ate my snack.
Music time! In music we watched the rest of our movie that we started
last week. The movie was
called Handel. Handel was a composer and he was really famous and he came to
a small town to find
a choir for his new song. It was an interesting movie.
In computers we did Ultra Key. Then we finished some more of our
projects.
Next was science. First, we did our system projects. First up was
circulatory system. They did
their skit. It was pretty funny, but we learned a lot of stuff from it too.
Next, was Respority system. It
was funny, too, and they taught us about the lungs and how stuff travels to
and from your lungs.
Next was the excretory system. We learned a lot from it, and it was really
funny. We learned about
the kidneys form that project. Then we did science notes about our systems.
Next, we did Fluency. Today in writing we had to write about
something real, noting made up. I
wrote about being Robinson reporter today and how to do it.
During recess I played and talked with my friends.
Next was lunch. For lunch I had a Pb and j sandwich, cheetos and
zebra cakes.
After lunch we read a chapter of A Week in the Woods. That chapter
was about Leon not really
liking his new home that much. That chapter is called Not the Same.
In Social Studies we shared our country projects. First I shared my
country and talked all about
how it works. Then it was Tyler Balke. She brought a lot of things to
represent her country, and her
country is quick and easy to get around. Then it was Lindsey Austins turn.
Hers was cool and it was
really good.
P.E time. We did dynamic flexibility; then we played flag football. I
got an interception and
almost got a touchdown!
When we got back from P.E, we did more country projects. First up
this round was Justin
Beckmeyer. His was about golf, and he brought in a golf ball (he likes golf).
Its Alex Gieses turn. His
country is called Super Robot Land. His is all about robots (cant you tell
about by the name), and it
seems really fun, even if robots control it all. Next is Kira Jacksons turn.
Her country is named
Bananasplitopia (yum). Her country sounds good; I want to go live there. Kira
passed out Hershey
Kisses (mmm). Next is Payton Huffmans turn. Her country is named Mocha. It
sounds good too.
Her country is in the shape of a Hershey Kiss. She passed out Hershey Kisses
too (yum). Now its
Luke Kirbys turn. His sounded interesting and fun. The countrys shape is
cool. Next is Beau
Trudeau. His countrys name is Winchester and gas is free. They get around
with four wheelers
(awesome!). His country sounds fun. I think Ill go there too. (But Ill make
sure to wear something
that can get ruined)
Last thing of the day- study hall. Im going to work on my contract.
Schools almost out for the
day, awesome!

September 24, 2008- Kira
Today at school we started off by doing our paragraph editing. Then Mrs.
Robinson read off our
homework and everyone had their assignments turned in.
Next, we had donuts for Kiras (My) birthday. They were really tasty! They
were also green and white.
After the delicious donuts, we had morning meeting. About everyone in the
class had something to
say. And then Mrs. Robinson told us a little about how our day was going to
be. After morning
meeting, we did our 25th Math Minute. This one was for a grade. For some
people it was tricky and
for others it was easy. Then for the rest of math we took notes on prime and
composite numbers
and then did a work book page that had to be done in class. I thought that it
was really easy because
it was all multiplication and I love doing multiplication! Then also in Math
we played a game called,
I Have Who Has, with decimals. We got through the game in four minutes and
twenty-two seconds.
And that was the end of Math.
When that was over, we did Reading. In Reading we did a Cause and Effect
sheet with partners over a
book called, Tornadoes! My group got it done pretty quickly and had enough
time to read the
story. I think that the story is a really good way for kids to learn, and
understand storms, and
tornadoes.
When everyone finished we had snack and A.R. reading. I read a book
called, Sideways Stories From
Wayside School. It is a really hilarious book; I would really recommend it
for a good book to read.
When our time was up, we had a special guest come in. It was Mrs. Clawson.
When she came she
handed out M and M cookies for all the class. We got them as a reward for
good behavior.
Afterwards, we did Write Source. Write Source is a book that tells us the
correct way to write down
an essay. This book is getting us ready to write a paragraph the correct way.
Soon after that, we went to band. In band we got to play a cool instrument
called the flute. We
didnt play the whole flute with all the keys. We just played the mouthpiece
and it still made a
smooth tune.
When we got back to class we worked on our science group project. Once
everyone was done
making their project we presented a couple of them to the class. The
projects that we heard were
about the Skeletal and Muscular systems. We also saw the Nervous system
project. The groups that
were left over had to show their projects tomorrow.
Once we finished, it was time for lunch. First, we went outside for recess.
At recess a lot of kids
including myself, played kickball. We also played a little bit of tag. When
it was time to line up to go
eat, our class went third in the lunch line.
When we got in the cafeteria, it didnt take long until it was our turn to
get our food. That day I had
a delicious turkey, bacon and mayonnaise sandwich, with sun chips, and fruit.
When we got back to class, we all worked on our Daily Geography. It was
really easy. The questions
were about latitude and longitude.
After we were done with that, we listened to a chapter of, A Week in the
Woods, a read aloud book
we had just started.
Then, we did a few great country reports for Social Studies. I really liked
all the different and crazy
names for countries. For one of the projects Sam brought Apple Dippers for
the whole class because
apples were his main crop. And wow were they great!
Once all of the reports were done, we had P.E. In P.E. we played flag
football, and of course, it was
outside. When P.E. was over, our team had won a really good game.
After that when we had study hall at the end of the day, the only thing that
we had for homework
was one Word Wisdom page, and it sure was a piece of cake!
That is all that happened on another exciting day in Mrs. Robinsons class!

September 23, 2008- Luke
Hello, my name is Luke. I am the Robinson Reporter today. I am going to tell
you about what we did
in class on the day of 9-23-08.
First, when we walked in the room in the morning we did a paragraph editing
sheet. Then we did
math. We did a math minute and there was a problem on there that the teacher
couldnt even do! It
was hard! Also, we took some notes. We learned about prime and composite
numbers. We also did a
sheet that has a pattern on how to figure out prime and composite numbers.
During math we had a
fire drill but it was just a practice so we were O.K.
Then we did reading. We read our story today. It was called Tornadoes! . It
was about tornadoes, of
course! But it did talk about a storm chaser to. Then, we did independent
reading time. I got to sit in
the reading center in the back of the room, which has a couch, beanbags, and
a comfy chair.
Next, it was time for music. We learned about the famous Beethoven. After
music we had computer
lab. We got to work on our government projects, which was fun. Since we were
good in computer
lab, we got a class Trojan treasure.
Then, it was time for science. Today we got to start our projects on one
organ system. Our teacher
put us into groups and every group got to pick the organ system they wanted.
Then, it was time for lunch. Today we had pizza. It was AWESOME! Then, after
lunch we started
reading a new book called A Day in the Woods by Roger Clements.
Then, it was word wisdom. Today we did interviews between a talk show host
and a famous chef it
was fun.
Well, I hope you liked my Robinson Reporter. See ya next time!!!!!!!!!

September 22, 2008- Maddie
Hi, my name is Maddie and I am the Robinson Reporter for Monday, September
22, 2008. Today in
math I learned how to multiply decimals. Its not as hard as you think. All
you have to do is regular
multiplication, but you have to add a decimal ( and put it in the right
place.) At first it was a little
confusing, then I got the hang of it and it was a piece of cake.
For reading we learned about parts of speech like nouns, pronouns, and
adjectives, and so we
did that for a while. We also learned about our vocab words for our new
reading story called
Tornadoes! I cant wait to read it. I am very proud of myself for one
reason, and that is because I
am halfway through my A.R. book called Holes. It is about 230 pages long.
Today I had a spelling pre test, and that is a practice test before the real
one. It wasnt really
that hard because I have used these words before. My homework was pretty
easy because all I had
to do was write my spelling words 3 times in different color. I used red,
blue, and green.
Band was amazing today! EVERYBODY got to try to play the saxophone and we
learned about
the flute. My mom used to play the flute, so thats pretty cool. All the
instruments we have tried
playing so far come with consequences, except for the flute. Im looking
forward to playing the flute
because it seems like so much fun!
Science was amazing because we got to look at organism cells! We did it by
borrowing
microscopes from the junior high. We were split up into groups of 4 and we
went to 4 different
microscopes, each one with a different slide in it. My favorite was the
hydra cell because it looked
like a deer facing toward you. My 2nd favorite was the onion cell because it
looked like tin foil.
Everybody looked at 8 all together.
Last year in 4th grade I had to have recess before lunch, and it made me
really hungry. This year I
thought that I would get to eat lunch first, but I was wrong. Speaking of
lunch, it was pretty good
today. We had hotdogs and tri colored chips. For some reason, all my friends
like them, but I dont.
There is a certain taste that everybody likes except for me. For recess I
mostly played kickball. It
took a while to get people on my team because I was in the outfield and
everybody wanted to bat
first. When it was our turn to bat, everybody argued about who got to go
first.
Today we had P.E. outside in the grass instead of the gym. I said to my P.E.
teacher If I get
jiggers its because of you. Lucky for him, I didnt. We also played flag
football, and nobody
expected me to take the ball 15 yards. The next time the ball was passed to
me I had my fingers
bent back, and it still hurts a little bit.
That is pretty much all I did, except for social studies and study hall. So I
hope you liked my
sheet for Robinson Reporter.

September 19, 2008- Ethan
Hello! Im the Robinson Reporter today! The day Im reporting is Friday.
When I woke up, I knew it
was going to be a good day because it was only a half day.
When I got to school, my class and I had to take a spelling test. Things
were all out of order because
of a short day. Then we still had some time for the Pledge, and of course,
morning meeting.
Then we did our math minute. It is true that I do really well on them,
so I had time to finish my book. However, I only had a few chapters left.
Next we took a
multiplication timed test, I passed with pleasure.
After that, we took a word wisdom test. I did pretty well, and I found fun in
it.
In reading, we listened to our story, Wilma Unlimited, on tape for the second
time. Then we read for
30 minutes.
Finally, we passed out Friday Folders and papers. When we were done, we
headed to
Physical Education. When we got there, I remember that I had to leave early
for an eye exam. I really
enjoyed being the Robinson Reporter!

September 18, 2008- Collyn
We started off the exciting day of September 18, 2008 with math. Math
was really hard because
we learned how to multiply and subtract decimals. We also did a worksheet
where you have to list
people from tallest to shortest. Easy!!! We had page eighteen for math
homework. For my homework
I had to subtract decimals it was hard but I got it finished.
Next, we strolled into reading. We read little books and once we were
done reading we had to
answer a question sheet over the book. That was easy too. After that we went
down to music and
watched a movie about George Fredrickson Handle. The movie was very
interesting.
After we finished music we walked up to the computer lab and I
finished my tenth level on Ultra
Key, a program on the computer where you have to type so fast to get past a
level. My friend Kira is
already done with hers!!! After computers we went back to the classroom to do
science. We read
lesson three of chapter one. In lesson three we learned about the
circulatory, respiratory, skeletal,
muscular, nervous, and excretory systems. Once we were done reading lesson
three, my group chose
to do our project on the circulatory system.
After we got done with science, I walked outside to my locker to get
my lunch box and then I
went outside for recess. All I did was play a little kickball and walked
around. I went back inside and
went to lunch. Today I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, some
applesauce, and a Gatorade.
We cruised back to class and did our daily geography. Todays
questions were easy. Once we
were done with daily geography we went to P.E. We played flag football, and
my team tied with the
other team. When we got back from P.E we did a thing in class were a person
gets to be any chef at
all and another person gets to be any talk show host and the talk show host
gets to interview the
chef using vocabulary words from Word Wisdom.
Finally, we had study hall. I finished all my homework so all I had
to do was go home and finish
this.
