About The Teacher Label:
About The Teacher
Hello, I'm Mr. Sanders and I have been teaching US History at Mayo Middle School for 7 years. I grew up in Mattoon, Illinois where I enjoyed cross-country running, track and field, and hanging out with my friends. After high school, I went to Eastern Illinois and received my degree in education. I student taught at Mayo Middle School, and was fortunate enough to be able to get a job at Mayo teaching US History. It has been a blast teaching at Mayo, with all the great group of kids and the staff at Mayo is AWESOME. Now-a-days, I enjoy teaching at Mayo, reading, playing with my two dogs, Oreo and Maggie, driving my wife insane, spoiling my daughter, and hanging out with the Benevolent Despot (Mr.Allen) and Da Coach (Mr. Brouwer). I have 2 brothers, Gabe (a salesmen) and Neil (a PE teacher). My wife's name is Haley and she likes to help at school functions. We have a 3 1/2 year old daughter named Abby. I'm sure you will see her on my computer or on my desk. I love sports, not playing them so much as watching them. My favorite sport to watch would have to be football, GO BEARS! My second favorite sport to watch is baseball, GO CARDINALS! Cub fans just need to realize that it just is not meant to be.
Mission Label:
Mission
The mission of the class is to get students to learn about their country's history and come to enjoy it. Through class discussions, group activities, videos and movies, the students will come to learn about the important events in US History and learn why we have grown the way we have. Another mission for the class is for students to become aware of the current happenings of the world. With that said, we plan on working n current events throughout the year to increase our knowledge and understanding of the current news.
