I'd like to thank all of the parents for supporting our athletes this season.
We've had some successes and some letdowns, but in the end it's another step
to becoming a stronger, faster, BETTER person. The track experience is this
past season has been wonderful for me and I'm lucky to be part of MJHS and
part of these athletes' lives. I've worked with some great kids, wonderful
parents, and motivating coaches in the past few months, and I'm already
excited about what'd to come next year.
This has been a season of record breaking times for the junior high. We have
several relay as well as individual efforts that have written themselves into
the school's record books. At the state meet this past weekend, enduring the
hot sun and many, many hours of waiting, we had a few athletes put together
some of their best performances of the year.
These are the results of the state track meet at Eastside Complex this past
weekend:
-Jordan W. turned in a personal best time of 4:58.51 in the 7th grade boys
mile, giving him a team-best 7th place finish.
-The 8th grade girls 4 x 200 relay team of Abbey A., Grace U., Erin T., Lexi
E., and Lily J. also set a school record of 1:53.27, while placing 10th overall.
-The 7th grade boys 4 x 400 team of Luke R., Brent W., Jordan W., Connor K.,
and Seth W. ran a record-best 4:12.13, shattering the old MJHS record of
4:37, while placing 17th overall.
-The 8th grade boys 4 x 400 team of Nick S., Austin B., Adam T., Fernandez B.,
and Blake M. also ran a time of 3:55.25, just 25 hundredths of a second off of
their own school-record pace of 3:55, giving them a 19th place finish.
-The 7th grade boys x 200 relay team of A.J. Z., Jacob B., Mitchell L., Seth
W., and Spencer M. ran a personal best time of 1:51, good for 22nd overall.
-Fernandez B. in the 8th grade boys mile (5:06.95, 27th overall)
-Caitlin P. in the 8th grade girls mile (5:59.33, 37th overall)
-Ashley P. in the 8th grade girls mile (5:42.3, 16th overall)
-Belle M. in the 8th grade girls discus (67’5”, 27th overall)
