READING First graders are expected to read every day after school. This can be at home, in the car on the way to after school activities, or at extended care. A child should read at least for 15-20 minutes per night. Of course more time than that is also encouraged. Reading can be done alone, with help (from a more fluent reader), or reading along together while a fluent reader reads to the first grader. MATH First graders will have nightly math HOME LINKS to complete before the next day of class. There should be a note in the Daily Reports about if there will not be homework on a certain day. PHONICS/WORD WALL WORK Word Wall Work will be sent home starting in October. The first graders will have a week to complete a packet of practice work. The WORD WALL WORDS CHECK will be on Fridays, unless there is no school on Friday then it would be on Thursday.
