Homework

READING

First graders are expected to read every day after school. This can be at
home, in the car on the way to after school activities, or at extended care.
A child should read at least for 15-20 minutes per night. Of course more time
than that is also encouraged. Reading can be done alone, with help (from a
more fluent reader), or reading along together while a fluent reader reads to
the first grader.

MATH

First graders will have nightly math HOME LINKS to complete before the next
day of class. There should be a note in the Daily Reports about if there will
not be homework on a certain day.

PHONICS/WORD WALL WORK

Word Wall Work will be sent home starting in October. The first graders will
have a week to complete a packet of practice work. The WORD WALL WORDS CHECK
will be on Fridays, unless there is no school on Friday then it would be on
Thursday.
