Third Grade Homework Policy

Homework will be about 30-45 minutes per night. (Homework may take
longer if a child does not complete work in school due to lack of effort or
poor use of time.)

Every Monday your child will be given a "Home Learning Sheet." The
students are expected daily to read independently,(about 20-30 minutes),
complete a math homework reinforcement worksheet (I usually give these about
2-3 times per week), practice the weekly spelling words, and finally practice
math facts. Math fact timed tests and weekly spelling tests are given each
Friday. On the Home Learning Sheet, your child will keep track of the time
spent in each of these subjects and record it daily. On Thursday the total
time spent should be tallied, recorded and returned to school on Friday with a
parent and student signature. Completion of these sheets are a major part of
your child's homework grade.

Third grade parents should strive toward helping their child develop
independent strategies for completing homework.
