The BIG announcement is that I am no longer a second grade teacher. After
twenty-one years, I looked forward to the change and challenge of a new
position. I am now one of the Reading Specialists, along with Mrs.Mammas and
Mrs.Heymann. I can't believe that this is my fifth year in this position. I
love my job because there is nothing I
consider more important than helping children build a strong reading
foundation. Early intervention is the key to reading success. I also work
with older students who need additional help with fluency, vocabulary and
comprehension.
This is my third year implementing Rti, Response to intervention,to students
in a small group setting. My students are continually progress monitored to
track growth. That way, I will know if the interventions they are receiving
are appropriate for them to ensure reading success.
