The Monarch Award is given annually to an author and/or illustrator of a
book voted as their favorite by participating K-3 children in Illinois. Any
K-3rd grade student who reads a minimum of 5 of the following twenty books
is eligible to vote for their favorite book. Voting takes place in
February.
