When does my child have special classes? Library - Tuesday - 1:00-1:30 Computer Lab - Thursday 2:40-3:05 Art - Friday 1:00-1:50 Music - Monday and Thursday 10:35-11:05 Reading Buddies - Friday 9:15-9:45 P.E. - Every day from 2:05-2:35 First Grade Sing-Along - Wednesday 11:30-11:50 What can my child bring for snack? Any healthy snack is fine. Some suggestions would be: fresh fruit or vegetables, crackers, cheese, yogurt, granola bars, or cereal. You may also send a drink but it really isn't necessary because the children get drinks quite often. Please don't send cookies, chips, or candy. What are the hours of the school day and lunch? Our school day is from 8:20 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. Our lunch/recess is from 12:00-12:55. Please make sure that your child arrives on time in the morning. What do I do about my child's birthday? Your child may bring a treat for all the children in the classroom (21) on the day of his/her birthday or the closet day to that special day. The first graders also like to take a treat to the other first grade teachers so you may want to add a few extra treats. I would like to add that we do have a student who has severe peanut allergies so please do not send anything containing peanuts. If your child has a summer birthday, we can celebrate it at the 6 months time or else during the last weeks of the school year. Yes, we have field trips and we love them. We typically go on two big ones and three smaller community trips. I will ask for volunteers for every trip, and will send home permission slips prior to the trip. In September we will be walking to the Morton Grove Library. At that time your child will have the oppoutunity to get a library card. What is the best way to contact you? I check my voice mail throughout the day. The phone number is (847)965- 6200, extension 129. My email account is always running, and that address is bmajer@parkview.k12.il.us. You could always send a note with your child, and I will get back to you as soon as possible. What happens at recess time when there is snow outside? When there is snow outside, all the children need to wear boots in order to go out and play. If your child does not have boots and there is snow, he/she will have to sit in the office and Mr. Olson will talk to these children. If a child plans to play in the snow and maybe sit down in it, he/she will also need to wear snow pants. Do the children ever stay in during the winter months? Yes, the children will stay in when the temperature is below 20 degrees. Otherwise they will go out unless there is a doctor's note stating a medical reason. |
