Homework is not specifically given on a daily basis. However, you should
expect a math Home Link almost every day. In addition, any work not completed
by your child during the day, will be his/her homework for that night. Your
first graders will also be given weekly vocabulary words to learn.
Periodically, your child will be given something specific to do as
homework such as the papers that correspond with the guided reading lesson
we will be doing. Any papers not completed in school are to be finished at
home and brought back the next day.
Two book reports a month are homework. These will begin in October and
continue through May. Please don't let your first grader wait until the last
of the month to do these reports.
In addition, please go over vocabulary words and read on a daily basis with
your first grader. This is so important and will develop a real love of
reading for your children.
