I have been a teacher at Park View School since 1982. I was hired as the
kindergarten through eighth grade special education resource teacher and
diagnostician. After twelve years as a resource teacher, inclusion became
the current way to address special education needs. I was part of the
committee that implemented the current inclusion model used here at Park View
and was assigned to the third and fourth grade teams as the special ed.
teacher addressing special ed. needs within their classrooms. After two years
in this capacity, I made the move to regular education and was given the
opportunity to teach third grade which I did for four years.
By this time, I had married and given birth to identical twin boys, Hayden
and Colton. My husband stayed home with our boys for two years. When the
opportunity arose to participate in a job share, I jumped at the chance to
be able to teach 2 1/2 days a week. Although this involved another grade
level change to fourth grade, I would then be able to spend time with my
young twins and do what I love so much - teach. The job share situation
lasted a year. This is my now my eighth year teaching fourth graders, in a
26 year teaching career!
My family and I live close to Gurnee and within walking distance of several
lakes. We have a Jack Russell Terrier, named Mia. My boys will be entering
eighth grade this year.
