  • Welcome to the week of May 14th in 4-yr. old Pre-Kindergarten, Room #5
  •                                                          We hope that everyone had a great weekend and a wonderful Mother's Day!!! 
                                                               
               Monday: We will walk to the St. Xavier Pond today with our 4th Grade Sharing Partners. We will observe all the signs of Spring and bring bread to feed the ducks and geese. The children will color a picture of children being friendly to each other and using encouraging words. Our third "Class Kindness" cross is filling up nicely. It looks like the children will be receiving packages of MM's after all. They are doing a great job of helping each other and using kind words. We will continue to pray the Hail Mary each day. The children really do a nice job saying this prayer. We will be placing our letter Tt magazine pictures on our Alphabet Wall Sheet. We will use our pocket chart and dictionary to review words that begin with this letter. The children will travel to the continent of Aisa as Mrs. Clemens dicusses details of this continent. The children will be coloring a picture of an elephant for their "Animals Around the World Book". Our story today will be "Word's are not for hurting ".  We will take time to review our vast selection of "Environmental" words. The children are doing a wonderful job identifying these familar words.   

               Tuesday: The children will glue their Uu pictures to our Alphabet Wall Sheet as we review this letter using our dictionary to guide us in this process. We will begin practicing our songs in church today for our Celebration which takes place next Friday, May 25th at 10:00 am in the church. Details of our Celebration will be sent home shortly. The children will color a picture of a violin as we begin to take a look at the letter Vv. We will use our pocket chart to view pictures and flash cards of things that begin with this letter. We will also listen to the sound that Vv makes using our "Fridge Phonics" tool. We will also paint the upper and lower case Vv.  Our story today will be "ABC I Like Me".

           Wednesday: We will review the number 10 as the children color a picture of a piggy bank and trace then print the number 10. The children will then count out 10 pennies and glue them to the piggy bank. We will also plant Marigold seeds in our recycled milk cartons. We will talk about tending to the seeds by watering them and letting them get plenty of sunlight. Hopefully we will see some sprouts before school is out. the children will bring their plants home to be repotted, so that they can enjoy watching their flower grow over the Summer.  The children will participate in a circle song sung to the tune of "Mary Had a Little Lamb". The children will pass around a white bag with raindrop shaped pictures inside. When the verse ends the child holding the bag will pick a raindrop from the bag and name the picture. We will continue with the circle song until each raindrop has "fallen" from the cloud. Our story today will be "Grow Flower Grow".     

              Thursday: We will look at the letter Ww today as the children paint the upper and lower case Ww and color a picture of a wagon. We will review the letter Uu using our pocket chart and then the children will glue their Uu pictures to our Alphabet Wall Sheet. We will then place Ww pictures and flash cards in our pocket chart for reviewing the letter Ww. The children love to Lettercize each day during calendar. The children punch out the letter sounds as they move to the tune of "Rocky". Our story today will be "A Pair of Socks". 
    Gym today at 10:00 am today. Please remember to have your children wear gym shoes.

              Friday: We will be treated to a Reptile Show today. Our Parents and Tots Group has invited our class to their presentation. The children should find this display of slithering snakes, lizards, and other reptiles to be very interesting. We will also learn some facts about dinosaurs and we explore this extinct species. The children will be coloring a picture of an X- ray machine as we begin our focus on the letter Xx   We will continue to review our continents by finishing our travels to Aisa.  Mrs. Clemens will talk to the children about  tigers. The children will then color a picture of a tiger and dictate to us a fact that they learned about this animal. This page will be placed in their "Animals Around the World Book". 
    Library today, please remember to send your child with their library book.

    Our "Superstars" this week are Brian and Gabi. They did a great job on their #9 cereal bubble sheet.
