Guidelines for Spanish General Information Learning to correctly speak and write a foreign language requires a great deal of precise study and memorization in addition to constant practice and review. You must study the material presented in class every day. You must participate in class. You can't learn to speak unless you try! Required Materials
You will need a notebook for taking class notes. A one subject spiral is preferred. A folder with pockets for keeping homework, quizzes, and handouts is recommended. Bring your folder, spiral, textbook, and workbook to class every day.
Attendance and tardiness
You are expected to be in your seat when the bell rings, with all the needed materials, ready to begin class. Books not needed for this class must be placed under your desk. Excessive tardiness will be reflected in your grade. Excessive absence will also be reflected in your grade. When you are absent, it will be your responsibility to find out what work was missed. Immediately upon returning to school, you must make arrangements with me to make up missing assignments. The length of absence will determine the length of time allowed. In the case of a one-day absence, one extra day is sufficient. Grading
Click on "Department Grading Policy" on this website for a detailed explanation of how your grade will be calculated. Preparation for class every day is essential, whether the assignment is written or not. Lack of preparation will show on your grade. Each missing homework assignment will cause some reduction in your grade average. Assignments will be checked in and corrected in class. Work is considered late if I receive it any time after it is checked in class. A student may make up an assignment by turning it in the next day for half credit. . Everything explained in class is important and merits your attention. Pop quizzes can happen. Above all, concentrate on speaking - a language is meant to be spoken, and this part of the course should receive your best effort.
